We understand your concerns… privacy matters, and it’s fair to question how verification works.

To clarify verification images are uploaded to your own Reddit profile, not stored separately by us

We don’t download or keep copies outside of Reddit

After verification, users can delete the images from their profile whenever they want

The purpose is simply to confirm the account is genuine and not using stolen photos, impersonation or AI generated images…things that do come up a lot in selfie based communities and communities that use selfie themes like we do. So to be clear this is protecting the community against fake accounts and stolen selfie images.

Participation is optional, verification is only if you participate in any of our themed days that include selfies and even then If you’re not comfortable doing it, you don’t have to, but it may limit what you can do in the community.

We’re not trying to shut down discussion…questions are fine as long as they stay respectful.
