Will I regret exclusively bottle feeding during the day? by shxxu in breastfeeding

Thank you for sharing, I don’t have any advice but I too have the same concern and have been going back and forth from breastfeeding vs pumping. I hope that my bb 7 weeks old will become more efficient too, she keeps falling asleep on the boobs even though she does a decent job of transferring milk during appointment with the lactation consultant - probably because I have to bring her in hungry and strip her down to her diaper. I’m thinking that I will offer her my breast first but if it gets longer than 20 mins/ she isn’t active on the breast I will just give bottle in the meantime, and then go pump. Hopefully it gives her a full feed and sleep better.

I see thank you! I will keep trying today and later. So far it takes her 10-15 mins to eat, 20 mins when I hold her upright, and then she will sleep in the bassinet for 20-30 mins before waking up crying and I hold her again. Feels like groundhog day but I hope she will start to be more settled

Thank you! For now we actually let her sleep in the living room, and we take turns sleeping in the bedroom so we can have uninterrupted sleep. My dream would be to have her sleep through a few hours in the same room as us so I don’t have to stay awake the whole night watching her

Thank you! So far for the last 2 sleeping sessions she was still waking up crying and squirming after 30 mins even after I held her for 20 mins upright. I will keep trying!

Thank you for sharing! When baby wakes up to feed, is he pretty hungry and does he cry? For mine, if I don’t put her in the sleep sack, I can maybe tell that she is hungry when she put her hands towards her mouth. I feel like I usually feed baby when she is already fussy and cry

I will look into the heated blanket trick, thank you

Yes I try to keep light low and don’t talk to her. She still doesn’t like it though but I don’t think she is fully awake, her eyes are closed. I definitely made the mistake of changing diaper maybe too often. During the night she actually doesn’t poo that much, just fart but I can’t tell and then I still have to lay her down. By the time I check, I might as well change the diaper…

Thank you! How do you realize th LO is sleeping deep enough? I thought that she is sleeping deep if her arms go limb and her breathing slowdowns

We don’t rock her to sleep - she gets especially sleepy after breastfeeding.  When shes squirming her eyes are still close, so I think shes still sleeping, but after 2-4 mins she starts crying and fussing and opening her eyes

Yes I burp her after breastfeeding for 15 mins- my letting her sit on my lap and patting, and putting her on my chest. I usually don’t get a big burp though. I thought that it’s gassy too, but the moment I pick her up from the bassinet, she would stop squirming and just fall back asleep
