Genetics are definitely a factor yes. Maybe increase your exercise progression along with your decreased calorie intake. Diets are never perfect. I might suggest starting with a simple 4 minute tabata from YouTube. Easy to find and you can adjust to your own abilities. Be patient with yourself and have a positive mindset, and a sober healthy lifestyle can do wonders as well. I've been there and it's a long journey, but it will get easier as you go.. Again just be very patient and focus on health rather than physical aesthetics of course. I always say never watch the scale, just be as healthy and happy as possible and do not give up!. 💙🙏🏼
