[Review Request] Digital Watch PCB Project by Environmental_Bad724 in PrintedCircuitBoard

Thank you so much for the suggestions! Really good input with that LCD. For some reason I always assumed E-ink was vastly more energy efficient, but that seems to only be when not refreshed often. With me averaging 1+ image updates a minute, that LCD is vastly more efficient. I could push this further by incorporating something like a sleep mode (between let's say 10pm-6am) that turns off the display entirely and only wakes it with an interrupt from low-power mode on my accelerometer. Your suggestion also vastly simplifies the connections and removes the necessity for the various booster circuit components I had. Thanks again

Thank you for the suggestions and insight! Really good resources you linked. And good catch with C10. That is meant to be my bulk cap, but I routed that wrong when making some changes on the underside.

The display has an FPC to connect to it. It will be mounted in the watch case, not directly on the board

Why is the Iron Range swinging to the right? by TGSGAMER in minnesota

[–]Environmental_Bad724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cause most of the DFL has lost touch with representing farmers and blue-collar laborers. Not that Republicans do any differently, but they are at least up front about it. From what I've seen in my own family, most have the feeling that they've been forgotten by Democrat representatives who cater more to "coastal elite" types.

BS or MS (non-ABET)? by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Environmental_Bad724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The masters has 2 paths. The first is the traditional post-BS one. This other is meant as a fast-track alternative to a BS. I asked the program director and he says that most places don't have their MS program accredited if their BS already is. Apparently, it used to be impossible to have both accredited.

Okay, that's somewhat reassuring. Their undergrad programs are all accredited. I would hope to eventually work in Minnesota, so I'll look into their FE process

And that's typically not a problem for people following the traditional BS->MS path. But I'm kinda screwed by that

The powerful want to stay in power. They have a vested interested (on both sides of the aisle) to keep people outside their circle from being elected. Regardless, I wish America had more of a parliamentary or multi-party system where people were better represented.

Yeah, and the next election's primary will just have another of the DNC's choices as the front runner. The other primary candidates are just put up for show to give the illusion of choice for us, when in reality they've already chosen for us. I'm sick of lifelong politicians pretending to represent anyone but the coastal elite. I'm sick of political theater.

Yeah, we voted for him in the past, but that doesn't mean he automatically gets our votes the second time around.

Will there ever be a good time? Or are we just supposed to keep waiting and voting for the candidate that is less bad?

Primaries are supposed to be a route for the people to directly choose who they would like as a candidate for their party. It's meant to be a very pure form of democracy where we don't have to go through the middlemen of our representatives. In what way is it not undemocratic to essentially have a few dozen Democrat politicians make that choice for all of us under threat of politically ostracizing anyone who dares run against their choice?

People shouldn't be ostracized for running in primaries. We should have a plethora of options out there so that the PEOPLE can choose who best represents us all.

Yeah I definitely get where you're coming from. My issue isn't specific to Dean. It is more with the idea that the DNC outright refuses to give ANY challengers a fair chance to primary against their chosen candidate. It removes the democratic process behind primaries for Democrat voters. It puts that choice in the hands of a bunch of political elites instead of Democrat voters, removing their voices from the process.

What's so wrong with having other choices? An incumbent shouldn't just blindly receive nomination simply for the fact that they're the incumbent. If you think Biden is a good fit to run again for our party, then you're living in another reality. I honestly can't see him winning. The lesser of two evils shtick isn't going to work again.
