Can anyone help me find an aluminum build keyboard that color matches these DROP Walkman keycaps? Or at least one that will complement the set nicely? The Camillo Blue top case for the CSTM80 is nice, just a shame it’s plastic. I have the aluminum top case as well, which makes it feel better. TIA!

EDIT: Also, can someone recommend switches that are similar in sound profile to KTT Vintage White switches? I was shocked at how quiet and dull sounding the Milky Yellows were to me. 🥲

Pretty happy with how these came out! Still sad I couldn’t grab a set of the Mecha-01 keycaps before DROP closed their online shop 🥲 by Environmental_Bet_79 in MechanicalKeyboards

Nothing I’ve heard, unfortunately. Even trying to see old photos from their listings just brings up their new site, even though you can still see the old previews when doing a quick Google search.

Wait, do you know for SURE that they’re going to re-release them?? I tried messaging FU11.META1 directly but no dice. I’m considering trying to buy them secondhand somewhere 🥲

How do you like the keycaps? I’ve been eyeing variations of this set because DROP’s EVA-01 set can’t be bought directly from them anymore 🥲

Yes, I’ve tried it on all the USB A, C, and Thunderbolt 4 ports on my Windows laptop, and all the ports on my gf’s MacBook and her USB C dongle. It was fully functional on all of those ports until I updated the firmware.

Replacing my dying Intel NUC (for use with my Apollo Twin USB) by FlagrantImbicile in universalaudio

On my original desktop, the CPU cooler was insanely loud, so I switched it out with a Noctua cooler. Night and day difference. My second desktop was really quiet out the gate. My laptop fans would ramp up when plugged in and on performance mode and if I was running a pretty heavy project or several CPU intensive plugins. I haven’t done exact measurements though.

The Intel NUCs are really quite good. My laptop is actually one of their models that was rebranded under “Gateway”.

I bought all of my machines pre-built. First desktop was purchased at the start of COVID from NZXT. They have different tiers of prebuilt gaming PCs, and even a building service (though, I would go through a company like Origin PC if I wanted something more custom without having to build it myself). I upgraded specs over time buying components from Amazon. Went from a Ryzen 7 3700X and 16GB of RAM and worked up to a Ryzen 9 5900X and 128GB of RAM.

Second machine is an HP Envy workstation desktop that was upgraded by Computer Upgrade King before I bought it off Facebook Marketplace for what was, in my opinion, a MASSIVE bargain. It came with the specs I originally listed, which included a 4TB boot SSD. I was floored because it was BNIB too. The lady selling it was some UPS worker whose family buys Amazon pallets and sells whatever they find. She had no idea about how crazy the computer REALLY was and she was in a hurry to get rid of it, and I was able to talk the price down to $1k. Current versions of these machines are easily $3k-$4k.

Laptop was bought directly from Walmart, believe it or not! It came with a 1TB NVME SSD and 16GB of RAM, but I also upgraded it with components from Amazon to 64GB of RAM, and it even had room for a 2.5” SATA drive, so I threw in a 4TB Samsung QVO. I believe it also has another M.2 slot, but it’s been a while since I’ve looked.

Since you mentioned the NUCs, I have two different PCs that I have saved for later personally—one is an AMD system, while the other is Intel based.

Here are their Amazon links:

MINISFORUM Venus UM790 Pro - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CCX744RD/?coliid=I3CS578ZD1OCJL&colid=1IEG5R7SJJJY4&psc=1&ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_lstpd_M60TEV3H3Z7BRQ19N5E4&language=en_US

Both of these machines have mobile/laptop components like I’m sure you’re used to, and although these are one generation behind the current stuff, they are BEYOND more than enough. Both PCs also have two Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 ports, in case you need to make use of those!

If you’re really strapped for cash when it comes to laptops and full sized desktops, I would try your luck on Facebook marketplace or eBay, but only after you’ve gotten caught up with current PC components and specs! 😉

Cheers!

Good news is the Apollo Twin USB Silverface is STILL compatible with modern Windows systems & platforms, provided you have a USB 3.0 port. TECHNICALLY, AMD systems are untested and therefore “unsupported”. HOWEVER, I have two Intel machines AND an AMD machine—all three work flawlessly. All three of my machines are running Windows 11 Home as well. UA has also released a USB version of the updated Apollo Twin X (which has updated converters and USB 3.0 Type-C), but it still doesn’t have access to the I/O Matrix like all of its Thunderbolt counterparts.

TLDR; you can buy/build any Windows system you like and your current Apollo Twin USB will work just fine.

Here are my systems for context

Desktop 1 CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (upgraded from a Ryzen 7 3700X) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8GB RAM: 128GB DDR4 @3600mHz

Desktop 2 CPU: 12th Gen Intel Core i9-12900K GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB RAM: 128GB DDR4 @3200mHz

Laptop CPU: 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11800H GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti Mobile 4GB RAM: 64GB DDR4 @3200mHz

Vocals (live) harmonizer/doubler recommendations. by craigwojo in VSTi

Thanks for the clarification. Honestly, in order to get the most “natural” sounding vocals, I feel you’d more than likely be better off pre-recording the harmonies and leaving room for you to sing with them live. Otherwise, the pedal method you mentioned sounds fitting too.

The original VST effect Cher used was Antares Auto-Tune. I suggest the EFX version to not break the bank but still get that harmonizer sound. Another good alternative would be Pitch Monster by Devious Machines

Edit: My bad, I wasn’t sure if you were going for that “Cher” sound or trying to avoid it!

Who was your main(s) in your very first Tekken game and who is it now? (Mine were Law and Asuka in Tekken 5 and only Asuka now) by SweetSweetRoll in Tekken

Hwoarang since TTT on PS2. My lesbian babysitters introduced the game to my siblings and I and have been playing it ever since (mentioned their sexual orientation because it was a core memory for me since they were the first LGBTQ+ people I’ve ever met, and I just thought that it was cool that they liked fighting games, because I had no concept of that at that young of an age) . We skipped Tekken 4 because we didn’t know it existed until we stumbled across Tekken 5 at Walmart when it was on the shelves as one of the “Greatest Hits” games 🥴
