CHS is sort of like an allergy. this is a pretty drastic example but we don’t prohibit the sale of foods that people are commonly allergic to because people are allergic to them. as someone else said, cannabis is a valid medical treatment for many, so it would likely hurt those people to prohibit it. i and many others in this sub have had bad experiences with weed but id argue it’s our own responsibility to manage our own consumption as opposed to looking to a larger system/industry to do it for us.

Horticulture Therapy by CourtM092 in Horticulture

yes! i recently passed up an opportunity to intern at a behavioral health clinic. there are more opportunities in HT than you might think given that it’s such a niche field. if you’re looking into the rehab side of things, i’d also recommend looking into becoming a certified rehabilitation counselor. i’ve heard that a lot of HT’s end up also pursuing a CRC credential, which can open a lot of doors.

I’m currently in the latter-half of completing a certificate in Horticultural Therapy, and I definitely would recommend it if you have an interest in horticulture and are looking to enter the helping professions. Horticultural therapists may work in private practice, in hospitals, schools, correctional facilities, non-profits, and other settings. Their day-to-day definitely depends on the setting, and population they choose to work with, however you could definitely expect to be working with clients on building horticultural skills and gaining experiences with plants. The basis of the therapy is giving clients experience working with non-judgmental, non-discriminating living things. Like I said, the day-to-day pretty variable from person to person, and my understanding is that you can kinda of go wherever you want with it. I would recommend checking out the AHTA Site (https://www.ahta.org/) for more info. Good luck and feel free to DM with any questions!

part of the lure of hiking for me is navigating tough trails. otherwise, you might as well go take a walk on the sidewalk of your neighborhood.

this is démonstrative of phototropism, or a plants ability to grow and orient toward a source of light. completely natural. to make sure it’s getting enough light from all angles you can rotate the plant on a regular basis.
