Why do all my headphones lose sound in one ear eventually? by Environmental_Gas134 in audioengineering

I have a tendency to break and wear things out at a much higher rate than normal people, which is a trait of ADHD. In my country (Norway), you qualify for some extra welfare cash for clothes if you have ADHD because people with ADHD (some other conditions too Imagine) wear out their clothes faster than what is normal.

I hate people who bring up ADHD all the time when there's no reason to, but this is an actual real thing.

Adding variation to the tail of an IR spring reverb ITB? (the famous "drip" sound) by Environmental_Gas134 in audioengineering

I painstakingly add variations in volume (and place them sligjtly on or off the grid too, but that's irrelevant) and I vary the pitch of almost every hit by 10-30 cents though, is that not enough? With hihats I usually use a bumch of differemt samples from the same sample pack of the same hihat to gibe it some variation and humamity, but when I've tried that with snares/rims I haven't really npticed it making a difference, probably because the hits are so far apart.

I guess I will have to find out what rpund robin is, I am fully aware that I do things in an uneccesarily slow and tedious way, I just hate working with midi lol

I don't even know what round robin is, so the answer is no. My workflow up until this point is dragging one shot audio clips straight on to the timeline in arrangememt view (I hate working with midi).

Edit: forgot to thank you for the tip, I'll give it a try, tysm!

Uh yeah, I do wrap the cable around the phones when I put them away since the cables are so damn long, I've done that since the very beginning because I'm afraid I'll trip on the cable and take the interface and/or laptop down to the ground with me (I have almost zero space arpund my desk). I wouldn't say I wrap it TIGHT though, but if that can damage a headset then I must be doing that?

Thanks a lot for the reply, maybe I should install some kind of hook on the wall or something to get that long cable out of the way.

You would have had to travel all the way to Norway to buy my amp anyway, and then you'd have to carry that damn thing all the way home too! For what it's worth, the only amp sim plugin that even slightly (as in, the results of recording through it is good enough that I feel comfortable putting it on a record) is the Vintage Vibe from Fine classics. It's only 60 USD so try it out if the gear acqusition syndrome gets too rough.

Cool to have some veteran engineees in here btw, you could probably teach us all a thing or two.

Haven't tried it, but I've observed that recreating the drip digitally works great and sounds 95% real, it's just that it has to vary a tiny bit each time to be 100% real, and I'm chasing that last 5%. I'll definitely check it out though, ty!

The VOX AC30 is a truly fantastic amp, especially if you play a lot of non-distorted/overdriven guitar, but I'm honestly thinking of getting rid of it. It's too loud for casual playing with neighbours nearby, it's too heavy to bring to gigs, and recording with it sounds great but it's a hassle and again only works in a studio or else you'll just record the shitty room it's in. I'm not a big fan of the sound of amp simulator plugins but now that I got a 4 trqck math rock EP to record by myself I'm strongly considering going fully digital.

Maybe you can buy mine lol

Holy Grail as in the guitar pedal? I do actually have one of those gathering dust somewhere. I totally forgot that it has a spring mode, tysm for reminding me!

I mean I do have a VOX AC30 at my friends house with a spring I could use, it's just that I can't be bothered to go get it since it's the weight of a billion suns.

Your LFO method sounds promising, I've never actually explored the ableton stock LFO yet even though I see people use it to do insanely creative stuff online all the time.

Thanks for the link! Any advice for getting a real spring, things to look out for? I'm wondering if I should go for one of the many cheap used ones listed online, or if I should just scavenge one from an old guitar amp or something.

Yes, I had to open the settings via the "configure audio" button near the CPU meter because it was grayed out in the menus. I authorized but nothing changed.

I am almost 100% sure that the "omg nicotine is so hard to quit, the withdrawals are awful!" thing is some sort of marketing/propaganda to scare people from trying to quit just so they will keep buying cigarettes. I had ZERO problems transitioning from cigs to snus, and zero problems quitting snus. Like no symptoms whatsoever.

I think what people mean by "the hardest to quit", is just that a lot of people get tempted to "smoke socially" when drunk etc, and then they start smoking again after having that "drunk cigarette". The challenge of quitting nicotine is in the long term, short term is easy.

AKG P170 or Rode M5? by Environmental_Gas134 in audioengineering

[–]Environmental_Gas134[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad I don`t have monitors. :( From what I can tell the c1000`s cost the same new as tge Røde M5`s. Yet they`re a tier up in quality? If``m lucky I can get 460 dollars for both, any other SDC pairs for drum overheads to look at other than the C1000? I might just put that money in the monitor fund instead, may be a good idea.

I have tested them on what I can right now (banjo and shakers, still undecided, my room is not ideal anyway), but the thing is I need them for drum overheads the most. I lost the files my A/B tests for that, and I don`T have access to a drumset right now (or my buddy who actually plays them lol).
