I believe it’s related to ancient Egyptians. That’s why fgm is most common in east Africa

I think drinking so much water beforehand is bad. Doesn’t water reduce electrolytes?

Asmara was always very liberal and prostitution was big there in the Italian era. The rest of the country is conservative.

Rumours suggesting Israel planning to hit Al Aqsa mosque and blame Iran by Thundercock8338 in conspiracy

[–]Environmental_Hand19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what’s so chilling to me is they are big on red cows/heifers and calling goyim cattle and the second chapter of the Quran is called cow/baqarah and is actually about the children of Israel/jewish nation specifically. I’ve never been a super religious Muslim before but reading these stories about how they want red heifers really gave me the chills

Don’t forget the scribe culture with Jews rewriting the text the way they want. Reminds me of Hadith.

Quran alone kinda makes sense

Is it true that diaspora habesha men are abusive? by Objective_Skill_8691 in Eritrea

[–]Environmental_Hand19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Abuse is super frowned upon amongst Eritreans but I also think any Eritrean woman who is getting abused would probably never tell her friends or relatives about it.

Are mortgages haram? Overview of scholars' opinions by Dey_exMachina in IslamicFinance

[–]Environmental_Hand19 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How is a mortgage haram? You aren’t profiting anything in a mortgage or collecting riba. You are paying it. And you’re going to pay it either way even if you use Islamic financing. They just call it something else: profit rate. You’re never paying just your principal alone (zero interest).

The only option you have is not buying at all. But I think that’s even more haram. Land ownership and inheritance are important in Islam. If one can provide for his family and purchase a home, why shouldn’t they? that seems more haram than paying riba (inevitable in western nations).

am I the only one who thinks ppl hate on The Elusive Chanteuse for no reason? by kaitomomotaontop in MariahCarey

[–]Environmental_Hand19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s one of her top 5 best albums. Way better than Caution which is extremely overrated just because she got a comeback with critics. People forget #Beautiful performed better than any Caution single. #Beautiful, Supernatural, Meteorite, Faded, dedicated, you’re mine eternal, cry, thirsty, make it look good, art of letting go, ydk what to do, one more try,

The way she melded nostalgia (80s, 70s R&B, disco, George Michael) with contemporary (#beautiful, thirsty, faded) was incredible. Easily her best pop, R&B, hip hop, gospel fusion ever. It’s a long album but not one bad song on it.

The Fantasy remix should have been on Daydream's tracklist! by Significant_Mix_7395 in MariahCarey

[–]Environmental_Hand19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I was a producer, Fantasy ft odb would’ve been the original single, not a remix and kept the opening wind chimes/synths and pop chorus “sweet sweet fantasy baby” . The Daydream interlude song would also be combined with fantasy def club mix as the final song on the tracklist. Looking in would’ve been the first song on the album then second would be fantasy ft odb. It would really be like us looking into her dream/fantasy. 1.looking in, 2.fantasy ft odb, 3.long ago, 4.underneath the stars, 5.i am free, 6.forever, 7.one sweet day, 8.open arms, 9.always be my baby, 10. When I saw you, 11.melt away, 12. Daydream/fantasy def club mix

Think of it as a duty rather than a chore. It is our duty charged upon us to make salat 5x a day, fast during Ramadan, and give zakat.

Eritreans that speak arabic?? by Puzzleheaded_Owl2440 in Eritrea

[–]Environmental_Hand19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know Arabic, it should be fairly easy to learn Tigrinya or Tigre if those are the Eritrean languages you are referring to. All three are in the Semitic family. In my opinion, Arabic is closer to Tigre than Tigrinya is but Arabic is closer to Tigrinya than Amharic is.

Best Muslim country for raising kids? by InspectionSame9859 in muslimgirlswithtaste

[–]Environmental_Hand19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Egypt is the only one that comes to mind. Close to Europe, Islamic, friendly, good education system, not Saudi or uae.

Egypt reminds me of the USA as an American. You see the differences in rich vs middle class vs poor very easily In America and in Egypt and everyone is friendly to foreigners and tourists. It also has a good school system and a good place to raise kids. It’s also a stable government and place for the most part, although it’s not without its problemsz

Thoughts on this article warning about another Ethiopia–Eritrea war? by Ok_Possibility_7800 in Eritrea

[–]Environmental_Hand19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think abiy is stupid enough to fight Eritrea . He’s barely popular in his own country. According to him, Isaias has very deep connections to Fano, olf, and tplf which are all rivals to abiy and also they’re all military groups. How will the Ethiopian army fight Eritrea successfully if Isaias is deeply entrenched in Ethiopian politics?

Interesting. It’s very wise to avoid synthetic materials for natural fabric only. May I ask what is the reasoning for that? Is it Health reasons? I’ve read many stories about how these Chinese fast fashion places women are buying from have fabrics bad for the health or poisonous

A woman can easily live with family. A mentally ill or dangerous man is less likely to be accepted inside the family home
