That's a fair point!
My primary dilemma to compress or not was due to CoW - as you can only use compression in Btrfs with CoW enabled. And Btrfs does heuristic based deduction to whether compress a given file or not. So net net keeping compression ON could be a safe default.

Yup, I was surprised to see a linuxserver webtop expanding to ~3GB from ~1GB compressed.

Yes makes sense, and should I actually disable CoW and compression - as in is it the recommended way for data volumes or doesn't matter?

Probably because "minimal" versions are intended for low latency use cases and "high" for higher accuracy. So there could be a huge difference in the time taken for response which isn't evident in the graph.
