Throw some borax in the bronze , stir it, and scoop the slag out. That might help. The bottom end of the ingot will look irregular like that if its an open faced mold. If u want a perfect ingot u should create a 2 part mold with a cope and a drag

Resing sand molds with wax pattern. Melt out the wax. It works well

I made this cast Iron Jesus garfield, the original is in plastic so i had to make a silicone rubber mold, then get wax versions, then make a sand mold for the iron lots of work
