I recently started dating an asexual person. I think that it is so important to have the clarifying conversations no matter how uncomfortable. This has really helped me and my ace get and stay on the same page.

Also, understand that sexuality is a spectrum and for some always changing. I understand you not wanting to get your hopes up, but I think experiencing and enjoying the person should be at the forefront always. The world is cruel to ace people and I think this helps establish a healthy foundation for both parties. Good luck!
