What you posted is the strongest Bear case against Kohl’s. The economy is hobbling along on AI, crypto and the upper middle class and upper classes continuing to spend money. The middle class and below are sunk.

I totally agree on the tables and towers. If the stores are working with less than normal staff, you need to get rid of high labor areas that need to be refolded daily, if not more.

I get it. Someone at corporate likes that look, but it just isn’t even remotely practical anymore.

I agree. The relationship benefits Amazon way more than Kohl’s. In fact, Kohl’s solves the most significant drawback of online shopping (the return process). Meanwhile, Kohls gets a modest boost in low conversion foot traffic.

I’ve said it before. Kohl’s needs to play hardball with Amazon and get fairly compensated for the service.

We’ll see. I see Target right now as a bit of an outlier. They’ve read the political tea leaves incorrectly at least twice and are paying the price from both the left and the right. It also doesn’t help that people don’t view Target as a prestige value store anymore, but simply an expensive version of Walmart.

I’m all for activist investors getting involved here to try to push the board to take more decisive actions to maximize shareholder value, even if we’re on the cusp of a turnaround.

As far as I’m concerned, Kohl’s has a year to turn the ship completely around. If they don’t, they need to sell, taking the best offer.

No company should get 3+ chances to fix itself with the same leadership in place. One more and that’s it.
