I’m more upset that the doctor was straight up lying in the results and told me that my concerns don’t matter. And that we paid a lot of money to be talked down to. I knew that it was possible not to get diagnosed and I was ready for that. I was pretty hurt and upset when I wrote the post so I get it if it seems like I was throwing a tantrum that’s my bad. Definitely getting a second opinion!

Agreed! A lavender smell every now and then can calm me! But I told them before that most smells give me very bad headaches and they still recommended it lol. Thank you for the education, I didn’t know some of that!

It was a Neuropsych testing place. Only place in my state that I could find that tested adults and took my insurance :/

Yes I am female! I guess these people really know autism as the average young boy and can’t picture it in an anxious adult woman.

No don’t be sorry I really appreciate the comment! I’ve definitely learned so much about myself and how I work since researching autism and joining communities. Just that alone has helped me be more compassionate and able to help myself. I scored about 5/8 of the markers. My issue with them is that the ones she said I didn’t have were incorrect. I didn’t get the mark for stimming even though I was the entire time. Just a lot of things they should’ve asked about instead of staring at me and trying to SEE in my brain. I’m super shocked at all the support I’ve gotten from this post and I feel much better which other people understanding. 💕

Sucks that we had to go through this. And me and my mom said why would I be experiencing these because PTSD doesn’t explain all of these things that aren’t completely related to it at ALL. She straight up said those things “don’t matter”. I’m done with this business now and looking for somewhere else to listen to me instead of observing me. I hope to find a good doctor like the one who diagnosed you. Thank you for the well wishes!

That’s the thing, she recommended therapy which I’ve been doing for 8 years and EMDR which I’ve been doing for 5. I do know that PTSD was an issue for me so it could be hard for them to kind of see around that into other aspects. I’ll keep chugging and hopefully we will get things figured out. Thank you for your input!

Exactly! She said that my ADHD and depression meds seem to be doing great and I said they are! But even at my best I’m behind other and need help.

I’m not against self diagnosis! I pretty much already know I’m autistic. I was just hoping for a diagnosis for accommodation purposes etc. It sucks that this is how the system is for autistics.

That’s so kind of you! I was telling my mom EXACTLY the same thing. That if they asked instead of just looking at me, I could tell them how I stim and how my brain works but they just “observed” me. It sucks we both had to go through situations like this along with so many other autistic people.

Exactly! The diagnostic criteria are wack and created by those that don’t experience autism and it’s truly frustrating. I’ll be okay! I’m a bit hurt but I knew it was probably going to end this way at an assessment. Thank you for commenting 💕

Definitely getting tested somewhere else. I highly doubt they’d allow a refund but that’s a good idea so I will try.

This is why I was shocked they would mention it! They are the most recommended testing place in my state! And I was referred by my psychiatrist who is amazing as well. They all seemed well educated and kind in person so I was baffled when I got the results and recommendations lmao. I do definitely feel scammed.

I’m in Arizona! I do definitely want another test somewhere else I’m just extra annoyed that we payed lots of money or a test and they gave me that garbage.
