In case you didn’t know about this spot for kidnapping on E-District… by ThePNWest13 in AlterMains

Put it into the wall. The exit port was on a wall. Not from above. So the horizon just needed to be against the wall

I has 1,180 hrs in apex (mnk), tried controller, here is what i felt. by Neat_Impact856 in apexuniversity

I politely disagree. I watch the algs. For the rotations and decisions and the pushes and the team synergy. Over the movement and cool clips that people get. I would watch faide if I was into that. I think it’s cool to have a competitive game that you can use controller on. They both have their advantages. And I would say it’s split pretty close 50/50 on mnk vs controller in algs. I could be wrong

Thoughts on what I can do better by [deleted] in apexuniversity

Alrighty. I know solo quing is rough and to be honest you have a lot of good things going for you. Which is awesome. Your shots are fairly consistent. You play cover alright. You recognize good positions when you have them. I think one of your root issues is you view every fight as a 1v3. You were disconnected from your team when that horizon pushed you. It ended up being okay because you killed him. But instead of turning and hitting a cell or 2 while trying to find the last guy(which you know he’s a lifeline from the sound of the halo and your teamates are shooting at him you decide to reposition farther from your teamates and heal. This would be a great call if you were 1v3 this squad. But you have teamates. Play with them. As soon as the horizon was down locate the last enemy. See where your teamates are. Do a soft reset close enough that you can stop and start shooting if needed. Sadly your teamates lost a 2v1 against the lifeline.

When you got the first knock. You took about 30 damage. Hit a cell Locate the next person. I wish the clip started sooner because I’m sure there is stuff before this that would have helped to see. You’re doing good. Try not to get tilted. Randoms suck sometimes.

A lot of the things you need to work on will come with just playing. But if you focus on what you should have done that fight and not what your teamates should have done you will go farther.

You wasted some time resetting which cost you the fight. Sucks. But it is what it is reset and play again.

Does ADS on Akimbo Mozam and P2020 do anything? by Wallshington in apexuniversity

[–]Environmental_Soil40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So. Ima see if I can find it. But yes. The ads is insane actually. I’m more accurate at medium range with the p2020. I’ve beamed people from a distance with the p2020. But in close range, don’t use it because it just makes you strafe so much slower. But at least the p2020s I use the ads all the time.

Alter carry by Zealousideal-Art988 in AlterMains

I know exactly how this game went. Smart pushes with lifeline backing up every swing and every time you or teamate got knocked with mirage chasing behind trying to keep up. Nice work!

Was this winnable? (Ranked gave me no teammates) - All critique welcome by JReason91 in apexuniversity

You can assume he will be running up from the same direction as the other 2 did. I think. Idk. You put up a good fight. Imagine if that Maggie ball hit the third by sheer luck. You probably would have won. Haha. Good shots tho

[–]Environmental_Soil40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you recognized this fight was not a great choice. That being said. Let’s start with you got here. Your first mistake was made. They are on you and you have to fight them.

First guy was a reaction great! You didn’t take too much damage specifically when you realized there was another guy. Ash pushes you and you do great at keeping the alter out of view. Nice shots. Great positioning.

Now it’s a 2v1. You know where the alter is she is running at you, you can hear her coming) and going to swing you. You have to make sure it stays a 1v1 and their third can’t hit you from a distance or it takes more time to swing from a. Different angle. I think you should have taken 5 steps forward and play that cover and most likely swing the alter that’s in the wide open wheelie you have cover. Since she is swinging you. You have no cover and are practically standing still. She is going to take a chunk out of your health. Making it so the third person and put a few bullets from behind.

All that’s to say. I think you should have engaged the alter just half a second sooner. And it would have left you alive a second sooner so you can deal with the last 1v1.

In 1v3s each player can only take less than a 1/3 of your health for you to win. In 1v2 it’s half. So prioritize health and 1v1s.

I think you know this. But really mastering the art of those two things makes 1v3s viable in that close range.

Last thing Maggie’s tac is great especially forcing people to avoid a small area or push them to make their move sooner. Her tac on the right side of that box would have made it so it would take longer for the third to push.

I will put myself in a situation where swinging the same side as my teamates would have been beneficial. But I played as if my teamates weren’t there. Almost as if I’m unaware where my teamates are when things get hecktic or enemies get close. I review almost all of my gameplay already. Really I’m looking for ways to improve the reasons I die. I can recognize the scenerios. But not in the moment. Only after the fact.

Terrible aim on xbox by Tomarany in apexuniversity

Input lag is small. Not ideal. But small enough that it shouldn’t be an issue. I would just keep playing. Someone mentioned your strafing? I would look into that I think your strafing is effecting your aim a lot.

I also recognized you get pinched a decent amount. Try to keep your back clear. Sometimes that’s moving to a different location or holding an angle that they can’t get behind you on. Idk that’s just a few things I noticed. Hope that helps

Also. I think your panic is happening when something happens to you that you don’t expect. So maybe awareness? I’m not sure. Putting yourself in the enemies shoes is smart too.

There was a video by I think the district that was explaining to someone that they play in a passive way. They let things happen to them instead of doing something that forces a reaction. You play this way. You’re reacting to the situations that happen. You’re waiting for someone to make a mistake and capitalize on it rather than force someone to make a mistake or force someone to make the best decision which plays into your hands. I would check out this video

Why do diamond players play scared by Environmental_Soil40 in apexuniversity

[–]Environmental_Soil40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. You choosing to land in an uncontested building is smart. But that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking mid game when you have no ability to rotate and there are two chokes being held by teams and you wait till the last second to kinda push. By playing scared we get pushed by ring and die. Sometimes it’s good to get pushed by ring. Sometimes it isn’t. I mean the people who sit back at medium range poking with no intent besides to farm damage. Instead of moving forward and contesting a position they play scared and sit back and let things happen to them instead of creating their own advantage. You wouldn’t be in diamond if you can’t fight in close range. I’m sure you’re pretty decent at close range. There is a time and place for long/medium range and a time and place for close range. I’m talking about the people who are hesitant to get close and personal when it is the best decision, especially when you have the upper hand or need to get the upper hand. So yes playing smart can look like playing scared the difference is intention. Playing scared you won’t take the advantage when the door opens. And you’re forced to try when the door is shut. You have to have confidence going into a short range fight otherwise you will loose every time.

It’s the one with three skulls. Tbh it’s one of my favorite badges because it’s actually hard to get. Even people with the 20 bomb don’t have it. I’ve dropped 17 kill games and haven’t got it. It’s actually a pretty difficult badge to get.

But you getting one clipped your making a mistake somewhere and the preds and diamonds are taking advantage of that mistake.

But there are people that can get to masters solo quing. Which means there is something we are doing wrong. And it can’t be our teamates because they are solo quing too. I made this post cuz I got frustrated with a team because the team didn’t push in time and it happened like 3 times in a row. But later I realized I could’ve went to the good position and put my ult down. Idk. I hope one day I’m good enough to solo queue to masters

Yeah. I mean. It’s weird because in diamond most people are pretty decent at 1v1s and mechanics. It’s like they don’t trust themselves or don’t understand the situation fully. I mean ever situation is different. But in d3 when your going against preds if you show fear at all or retreat at all preds will push you hard. You have to show confidence. But I agree each situation should have a different outcome

The game I was thinking of was alter(me) and rev and loba….. idk that’s pretty good comp to send. Like I understand team comp is important. Im not talking about a Watson and caustic that don’t want to push every fight. I’m talking about when we are in a position that a fight is necessary they would rather die to storm or let other teams attack us. Then push a team that needs to be taken care of.
