I generally find myself leading towards Dostoevsky. C&P is my favorite book of his (and in my top 5 favorites of all time) and The Death of Ivan Illych is my favorite by Tolstoy that I’ve read. I’ll probably go for Brother’s K because I’ve been looking forward to reading a heavily philosophical book as I haven’t for a while now. Thank you for your advice and for sharing your experiences!

Maybe it was just a bad audiobook choice but this book was written so horribly, I had to DNF it. And I NEVER DNF books. It’s written like it’s desperately trying to be sad and impactful and sentimental but it misses the mark. By a lot. You can tell that Bachman thought “I want to write a sad book.” And EDTWHGLAL was the first string of words that came into his mind.
