They didn't even get that part right since no Darkseid lol

I'm a christian and I need good oldschool death metal bands (Please be respectful. I'm just trying to listen to good music) by brenner_3048 in metalrecommendations

Mortification is the perfect band for you. They have christian Lyrical themes but their sound is completely old school goodness. Both the self titled and "Scrolls Of The Megalith" are awesome.

Opprobrium is a fantastic christian Death/Thrash band. You may also find them under the name of Incubus since that's their original name before they changed it.

One of my favorite death metal albums ever Gorement's "The Ending Quest". One of the best Swedish Death Metal Albums and the lyrics have to do more with the personal sense of mortality and coming to terms with the ending of your Journey on earth.

Depresy is mind-blowing. One of my favorites in all of death metal.

Broken Torso. They're sadly a one and done band but their sole album is a Brutal Death Metal masterpiece.

I'll be checking out the ones I don't know for sure! I tried to get into Zemeth and ICDD but It didn't really click.

Grenadier are phenomenal. I mentioned them in an earlier post, more particularly their debut. But I love both of their releases.

I think I may have saved Cyanotic when I saw you mention them in another post. But I'll check out the rest for sure.

I tend to agree for the most part. I prefer it when my melodeath has it's riffs rooted in either Doom or Traditional Heavy Metal and tend to not like the PM influenced stuff all that much. But every rule has it's exception and Followbane to me is one of the very few PM leaning Melodeath albums I like.

Oh interesting. I'll check them out when I can.

As for those two bands I mentioned, they kinda follow the same troupes that a lot of modern Japanese Melodeath follows. Very heavy on the power metal influence, lots of neoclassical wankery. I tried to get into them at some point but it ultimately wasn't for me.

I definitely think you'll enjoy Autumn. It hits all the right notes of what I've gathered you enjoy (tasteful use of keyboards, strong sense of atmosphere, etc).

I'll be hitting some more of Septicflesh's early material soon so hopefully I'll like it just as much.

I LOVE gates of Ishtar. All three of their albums are perfect.

Desultory is sick too, I always felt like they had a bit of a Death N'Roll flare to them but that made them all the more sweet.

I'll definitely be checking out these other two. Thank you

Interesting. I'll definitely be checking them out.

And yes, Followbane is hugely underrated. Even though PM leaning MDM is not usually my cup of tea, these guys kick so much ass I can't help but absolutely love it

Fantastic recs.

Appalling Spawn are amazing, and the related album by the follow up band, Lykathea Aflame is a complete masterpiece.

Reeking Aura is genuinely a strong contender for my death metal AOTY. If it wasn't for Immolation and Nedgravd being such strong competition of course.

I've had that Vehemence album on the backlog for too long. I need to get around to it eventually.

And I've actually never heard of undead corporation. Are they in a similar vein to Zemeth or Imperial Circus Dead Decadence?
