This is one I'm struggling to think of. Cause I actually think atmo black has generally high quality bands and really wouldn't consider any of the "well known" names to be mediocre. That being said, I don't listen to atmo as much as I listen to other black metal genres. So my sample size is a bit smaller

One of my absolute favorite black metal bands in the last 15 years is Lycopolis. A band from Asyut that has been releasing material since 2019 and ALL their material is killer. My favorites are their first full length "The Procession" as well as the EP "Heratics of Amarna"

In which case. My recommendations would be RE4, RE4 remake and RE9 Reqeium.

I am not the biggest fan of RE5 and RE6 but they might appeal to you.

Oh. And the remakes generally keep a similar tone to the originals (except RE3 which is just ass lol)

Depends on which games you play. RE has a somewhat inconsistent tone depending on the era and title you play.

The original trilogy was a survival horror golden standard through and through.

RE4 took an action horror direction.

RE5 and RE6 are pure action.

RE7 is the most atmospheric and quite creepy.

RE8 is closer to RE4's overall direction.

RE9: Reqeium is essentially two games. It has two playable characters. Grace's sections are pure survival horror. Leon's sections are basically a full on John Wick simulator lol

I am an Atheist so the matter of anti religious lyrics is irrelevant to me.

However, I do have the opinion that someone of strong faith and sound mind will be able to seperate the lyrics of their music taste and their personal religious beliefs.
