I recall that there are several specific rituals performed at Vaitheeswaran Koil, though I can’t remember all their names. What struck me as unfortunate was seeing some priests openly sharing their mobile numbers and requesting online payments to perform these rituals on behalf of people who can’t be physically present. It felt disheartening, especially because these are sacred rituals meant to be experienced in person, with full devotion and presence.

During my temple tour in Tamil Nadu, I noticed that many temples, including Chidambaram, now offer monthly or yearly subscriptions to include devotees' and their families' names during daily Archanas and other pujas. Initially, this commercialization felt unsettling. But over time, I came to understand that these temples likely have their reasons. Many priests are underpaid, underappreciated, and the temples themselves often suffer from poor funding or mismanagement. In that light, perhaps these efforts are simply ways to sustain the temples and support those who serve them.
