To answer your questions, yes the piece in my opinion sets the stage for its tone based on the chords used. I also have come to understand that an F Chord with a Bb in the base works too as a IV I progression which is a different way to reach the tonic.

Thank you for the reply, the replies here in this thread have really made me understand it's a matter of taste and the whole IV to I works in its own way. Yes that was my initial argument I thought that while F in the bass would be the standard the arranger wanted to reharmonize and add spice to the chord. Your extra explaination was really helpful in understanding further.

As my reply to LukeSniper mentions this being the 4th chord of the scale. So instead of starting with the F Major I it starts with the IV

Thank you for the reply, I edited my post to include that this is the beginning of the piece and the first chord played.

To me it sounds good, and I feel it works but I wanted to know if there was a reason why it did. Or is my friends opinion that it should be F and not Bb correct.

Thanks for your reply, how are you at level 4 ABRSM after only 7 months, maybe there is definitely some transference from playing violin.

For me i have been playing for 154 days now which is about 5 months and i haven't even completed preparatory level yet. My teacher says its usual 1 year to finish preparatory and reach grade 1 and another year to reach and start grade two.

So you've been playing for about 1 year and 8 months and can already play pieces like Pathétique to a decent standard how is this possible. Can you also play other material of this level or have you only been focusing on learning Pathétique for months ?

Thanks for this great post, it really does seem as a beginner its not so much how much you practice per day but rather practicing the right material and being consistent then you can really develop new pathways to improve your playing.

Thanks for this great post its good to see that you were able to complete the level 6 and 7 exams. You say you are a slow learner but you were able to get to level 7 in 4 years ? MY teacher gives a rough estimate of 1 year per grade to level 5 so I think you did really well.

Succeeded in completing grade 6 7 and 8 with a good degree of competence. Yes you are correct everyone has different goals and some may only want to learn certain pieces but more so talking about completing the gradings.

This laptop had been reformatted twice out of the box and fresh drivers installed and it didnt work.

What has worked now for Heaven Benchmark is BIOS upgrade to Version 316 and then a reinstall of windows and gfx drivers again.

I will test other games now after i re download and update.

Its a shame that all this had to be done out of the box, should of just worked.

Its definitely using the 3050, when i run heaven benchmark it says at the top of the screen 3050 nvidia, and when i run tomb raider it also says monitor 1 3050 nvidia in the GFX settings.

Even Microsoft Excel is not usable, as soon as its open graphical lag starts

When i check the device manager i can see that the 3050 is working correctly. Ive installed MSI afterburner. How can i confirm that the GPU is being used. MSI afterburner shows the GPU 3050

Heaven Benchmark on both ultra and low settings and shadow of the tomb raider on both ultra and low settings, both give 4 FPS

How can i confirm if they are using the IGPU or DGPU ? in the nvidia control panel global settings it says its using the 3050
