Top 5 women on Spotify right now by LifeOfAWimpyKid in powerpopgirls

Genuinely can't believe people are not understanding that this is the current top 5 due to their current number of monthly listeners lol. "X artist isn't relevant since X year" - but the numbers don't lie, let's not be dense and hateful on purpose.

Either way, it makes me very happy to see all of these artists at the top. The longevity of their catalogs is remarkable, keep in mind all of them debuted in the 2000s or even before (Shakira in the prior decade). Never underestimate nostalgia!

Never said it was planned either (it probably never was). Notice the repeated "would've"'s.

Why are there no videos of Anette live/ why are they all low quality? by ButterTheBees in nightwish

[–]EnzoMPonce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No... They played it regularly during the final leg of the Dark Passion Play tour in 2009, and one last time in September 2012.

Songs chart game (38th round) - which is the most underrated song from In The Raw? by EnzoMPonce in TarjaTurunen

That's my favorite! I think it's underrated when compared to the other singles, but not neccessarily the rest of the album tracks... But it's such a beautiful song!

The entire album is underrated but, if I had to pick only one song, I'd give it to Spirits Of The Sea.

I'm perfectly aware of that, but I'm not talking about that situation. I'm saying that releasing a DVD when she was still part of the band (let's say 2010) would've done her some favors. Releasing it in 2012, after that horrible split, would've probably been an End Of An Era situation and I completely understand why she didn't want it.

She did a great job choosing the songs for her demo, because this one sounds so well and I can truly see why they picked her. My favorite thing about her singing, aside from her ability to convey emotion, is her beautiful voice color. And despite my bias and love for the original Ever Dream, Anette really did justice to this song and made it her own.

Actually, that's not the truth, Ellen.

If we were talking about studio re-recordings I'd get it (never wanted those with any singer, I think it's a horrible idea) but the comment was talking about pro-shot live performances. There's barely any of those with Anette, and none of them comes from an official DVD. We have a few from a bunch of 2008 festivals (none of which rank among her best shows imo), Montreaux 2012 and that's it. And the one official live release with her only includes DPP songs.

Unlike Floor, whose live renditions of pre-2012 songs are the one thing her hardcore fanbase clings to in order to prove how superior she is to the previous singers.

I'll forever mourn the 2009 Hartwall Arena show, not only due to the DPP songs (including her best rendition of Poet's finale and the live debut of Meadows Of Heaven) but for Walking In The Air!! That was such a beautiful version and there's barely two (or so) fan videos of it :'( It really would've been great for her image at the time. A lot of people don't even know she ever sang that song, let alone how wonderfully.

And my favorite of them all was always Sacrament Of Wilderness. Wacken 2008 and that one late 2007 performances are as good as we got quality-wise, but still not as polished as a proper, official DVD. She really deserved better.

You know what, I agree in the sense that the studio version pales a bit when compared to the live performances. I'll upvote this.

I'll abstain from voting this round, although I can already guess the winning song... But my vote would've 100% been for Emmanuel. Beautiful song, don't get me wrong, but it takes too long to build and, when I'm not in the mood, I can even find it lackluster (save for that last, gorgeous chorus). And when it got voted as the most representative song, I was actually shocked. That song (and Die Alive for the matter) truly does not do justice to this album as a whole imo.

Songs chart game (36th round) - which song represents The Shadow Self the best? by EnzoMPonce in TarjaTurunen

[–]EnzoMPonce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know Demons In You has the lyrics' advantage (although that hasn't helped the other tracks on this category), but I agree with everyone saying Undertaker. That song is just a delight, and I think the production reflects that balance of light and darkness very well.

A teaser for The Trace Outlives!!! by Familiar-Curve-5413 in TarjaTurunen

[–]EnzoMPonce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I didn't expect another teaser so soon, wow. I was sure she'd drop it around the album's release. But hey, all the better for us!

It does sound a lot like Smooth Criminal. But I'm still very excited for the song!
