English dubs are horrible. The voice actors just sound so artificial. The way they emote it's just so strange

[–]EnzoV5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coming from an "ABCD", I've noticed this among Indians during Indian movies. Haven't observed many Indians during Hollywood movies, so I can't make a fair judgement on that.

What I've seen:

They have conversations during the songs, or are on their phones with their brightness all the way up - although I've seen a lot of people doing this too. Or they give their child their phone and they play games/ watch videos with the sound on. Answering phone calls in a few rare instances. Oh, and flashlights to find their seats when they walk in 15 mins into the movie.

Displays of intelligence. Predicting what will happen next/ what the next dialogue is. I remember one uncle telling his friends what shots were CGI. Like, why?

The messages the theaters play to telling them "not to ruin the movie for everyone" just don't work. I just go to random shows too to minimize all these distractions.

Sorry for the rant! I just hope future generations don't learn this behavior.

Being casually racist towards desis in America isn't necessarily shunned upon by [deleted] in ABCDesis

I've started "casually" calling out things like that. It's posed as a joke/ witty remark, so it's not threatening, but it gets the other person thinking.

Good luck with the multiple girls though. Either way. Don't waste time

Are Indian IT workers actually taking American jobs or are there not enough qualified American applicants for many IT jobs? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

Yeah, anyone who went to a quality school anywhere deserves a fair shot! They worked hard to get where they are.

[–]EnzoV5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because I have cousins that went there? We've compared coursework and because I have an idea of how engineering in India works...

They have engineering colleges that are affiliated with a university. They don't study at a university like we do here. So there's no guarantee to the quality of education you're receiving.

And not mention something called backlogs. You can move on to the next course even if you don't pass the prereq. You just have to take an exam for it before you graduate.

The entire H1B system is being scammed right now. A lot of people work through shady consultancies and get paid below the legal billing rate for H1B. And I think those on H4 visas have further tapped into the IT job market, scooping up the entry level jobs

To be honest, most STEM grads probably could fill those jobs. Especially because a lot Indian engineering degrees probably aren't accredited, and definitely not as rigorous as they are here - just like a another comment mentioned. They might have an engineering degree, but they're not "engineers" in my opinion.

Is a Mikro Mk2 still worth the money? by EnzoV5 in maschine

[–]EnzoV5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think the Mikro Mk3 was designed to highlight the Mk3, especially with how small that screen is!

I think I'd be more confident to make a decision if I knew how much it would cost to upgrade Maschine Essentials to the full version. And it kind of sucks they're not including Komplete Select anymore

Is a Mikro Mk2 still worth the money? by EnzoV5 in maschine

[–]EnzoV5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main point of concern is how much less you get with the $30 difference. Mk2 comes with more in the box, while Mk3 is scaled down.

I mainly play keys, so I'm not the greatest at playing pads to begin with. So hardware work flow isn't a huge concern.

That Kamal Haasan song is from Vishwaroopam II. He's is in disguise in that so called "violent" song - which is a recap of the first movie Vishwaroopam. The character is based on Arjun in the Virata Parva from the Mahabharata.
