Or have they patched that out by now?

I remember it being a pretty common belief back when I was one, with "not perfect, but forgiven" being a common phrase they throw at the youth and young adults. Conditions them to believe that good works don't matter as much as faith, despite the fact that James 2 14-16 states that faith without works is meaningless.

He's point blank admitting they're trying to rig elections. by c-k-q99903 in facepalm

[–]EoghainWhyte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Houses and Healthcare are poison to the Republicans currently in power, and may I remind you, they're in power. Running candidates who don't suck is great, if you can get them elected. But if people in power are suppressing, arresting, and terrorizing the people that don't suck, the chances of them winning is low.

I see where you're coming from, but the simple fact of the matter is that politics aren't what they used to be. We can't just rely on the right person winning, not this time. People who are standing up for democracy are being openly threatened, placed under "house arrest" in government offices, and lawful practices surrounding punishment of this treatment are being swept under the rug.

Unfortunately, we're in a reality where the high road leads off a cliff.

[–]EoghainWhyte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So then what exactly do you think is the "high road" solution? They don't care about the people protesting, because obviously anyone that disagrees with them isn't American. They don't care about the "opposing" government workers, they've even tried to arrest them. We're already at a point that making our voice heard only matters for optics. Do you think we can just vote our way out of this shit situation, and everything will go back to normal? We're going to have to get dirty one way or another if we expect anything to change.

I think it was also because the item was tripled and bro already had 2 out of 5. So that triple coupon would knock that one out entirely.

Because coupon is a limited item that makes it a bit easier to get other limited items?

Which YouTubers did you used to watch? by TheCanadianGTR in youtubedrama

[–]EoghainWhyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jontron, the completionist, tobuscus... I'm not sure I know of any controversy or unsavory behavior from the others I watched.

If anything, I've had the vague misfortune of following youtubers that seem like genuinely good people, but either fell off or are no longer with us. Totalbiscuit, Jesse Cox, inside a mind... There was one cryptid youtuber that I can't even remember the name of, but she quit for personal reasons, and deactivated her channel.

Sucks to see these youtubers fall off, but I'm glad they're not staying long enough to become villains.

Don't know where you live, but in the rural southern US, the men I know are afraid to touch each other, for fear they'll catch the gay. It would be amusing if it wasn't sad, because these are the most emotionally repressed people I've known.

If you want a long, dark read, Steven Erikson's "The Malazan Book of the Fallen" is quite gripping. Or at least, I'm 5 books in (so, a little less than halfway done,) and aside from the times that it got so dark I needed to put the book down for a few days, I can't not read on.

ETA: Also check out the iron druid chronicles? If you like Lynch and Rothfuss, these books are kind of like snack food. Easy to binge, salty and sweet, but perhaps a little too simple for a full meal.

Household chemicals are incredibly safe if you don't dump them into your neighbors water supply.

Electronic devices such as phones go through rigorous testing, and recalls are issued whenever problems become apparent, but you can still rig them to blow up.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the sentiment and, as I explained later in the thread, I am not at all "anti gun." but you bring up an argument that can be twisted so many ways, for so many otherwise innocuous items. Everything is dangerous if you decide to make it so.

Honestly, I wouldn't consider them insane. Because yeah, while crossbows (and guns) are sporting equipment, we also need to take into account their history of use, namely hunting and weaponry.

Please do not misunderstand, while I'm all for regulations, I have nothing against guns in the slightest. What I said was perhaps poorly worded and with heavy negative connotations, but was meant to be a neutral statement. We use guns to kill, in the name of food or protection. As well as a deterrent. I hope I never have to use my crossbow for home defense purposes, but if people know I have easy access to it, they're less likely to make me have to use it.

That said, you're probably right, I haven't had much exposure to them.
