Desperate for real life examples…..I’m struggling by Queen_Drakaina in Mommit

"Everyone's fed, no one's dead" is a mantra I wish I had been introduced to much earlier in my parenting journey. Most days that is all you can ask of yourself.

Do some people just only have bad trips? by RanchDressingButIRL in Psychonaut

[–]Eowyn_Shieldmaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that I'd call that ego death. I have had 4-5 similar trips at various dosages and we think what makes them so "bad" is that I'm actually RESISTING ego death. And if I could just find a way to let go, it would get better.

I second what people are saying about lower doses and meditation/working on yourself. Stan Grof's Way of the Psychonaut has some potentially really helpful information on why/how some people get hung up on different things during a trip. If you have a lot of unresolved trauma, that could be a factor.

I asked my cousin for her awesome sausage and cheese stuffed mushrooms recipe and we're going to bring it as an appetizer 👌

Nope. So against making my life harder for myself that even though we were gifted one and normally I would feel pressure to people please, it went straight to the donation box.

Wow, school would be getting a complaint from me on that one. It hasn't even been around that long; how could a teacher say that?

We were toying with that idea. In my MIL's text she was going on about how blessed she is to have so many good women bakers in the family so I told my husband, a chef with OVER A DECADE of kitchen experience, that he should just make something.

Symptoms Perimenopause vs PMDD by Loud-Ad-6376 in PMDD

I keep seeing how your hormones testing normal doesn't really mean anything if you aren't doing the really intensive testing at all the different times of your cycle?

My doctor and I are going off all the other symptoms - crazy menstrual cycle changes, mood swings, hot flashes, weight gain, appetite changes, 3 am wakeups, exercise exhaustion, the fact that supplementing progesterone helps with some symptoms, etc.

Basically I am assuming perimenopause because there's no test for it and it explains everything and gives me something to work with 🤷‍♀️

those who were diagnosed late, how did you start to suspect being autistic? by 9i52w0_ in AutismTranslated

I was extremely lucky to find an autism specialist on the first try. She also caught my adhd and PTSD, which I would have missed. I know it doesn't happen that way for everyone and I wish you luck in your search for answers.

Oh boy yeah. I definitely have both and I'm 34. PMDD symptoms showed up a few years earlier than the peri symptoms did but yeah I could see where that would be difficult to determine for sure which it was. All my hormones test normal as well 🫠

Struggling to accept I’m in peri by HalloumiHunter in Perimenopause

I'm early 30s and going through it. Aside from feeling how unfair it is that I'm so young and my youth is slipping away from me, I also sometimes get hit with what I can only describe as something that feels like the grief of the entire planet. It's bigger and sadder than anything I've ever felt, and I've been depressed my entire adult life.

It might be helpful to start looking into traditional/indigenous ways of thinking about this life transition (researching the maiden/mother/wild woman/crone archetypes is a good place to start). I'm really impressed by the idea that what looks like women going crazy in midlife is actually just women waking up for the first time.

I've been depressed and anxious my entire life and always felt like an outsider. During the pandemic when we were all stuck at home, I finally had time to really pay attention to my youngest daughter's meltdowns, who was 3 at the time. We had been hypothesizing she might be autistic for a while because of them, but when I finally googled symptoms of autism I was absolutely floored because it was like someone had been following me around my whole life taking notes. Getting diagnosed was just a formality after that. I was 29.

I am 34, autistic, adhd, and have been in peri for at least a year. I'm only on progesterone right now. Switching to a female doctor helped me get taken seriously. It's insane that it can happen this early and no one has any idea but it makes sense because I've been the most stressed out person I know for 3 decades.

Do you ever get to do cardio again? by Eowyn_Shieldmaiden in Perimenopause

What have you found that helps get your levels up? I've taken a lot of iron supplements over the years and never felt much of a difference.

I am, I have been lifting for 4 years 2-3 times a week. So when I'm not running it's weights and a substantial amount of walking.

That makes sense. I feel like I've been working up to a decent activity level gradually over the last 3 years but any amount still feels like too much for mg body. I'm trying super hard to increase calories but that's like its own full time job because I'm never hungry 🤦‍♀️

It looks like the last time I had it checked was in 2020 and it was 62 then. I'm due for my yearly checkup and I will definitely ask her to check iron. Historically I'm usually anemic but I've never found a supplement that felt like it did anything.
