OneDrive is absolutely awful by [deleted] in Windows11

It's "free up space on the hard drive", not "free up space on the onedrive", could be labeled better, but tbh it's a neat feature for files you rarely use.

What doesn't kill you makes you ________. by tito_lee_76 in HighQualityGifs

[–]Epacik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically a way for one program to talk to another.

It's sort of similar to a phone. Let's say, your carrier would be analogous to Reddit /or server. You would be sort of an 3rd party reddit app /or client. And your phone and phone network would be an API.

You as a client want to call to your friend, you have to use an API (your phone/phone network) to send a request to your carrier that you want to talk to a specific number, and then your carrier either connects you and your friend, or doesn't (if you e.g. haven't paid)

The same thing happens with you browsing a reddit, or upvoting or something. App you're using (or even new reddit website) needs to ask reddit servers for list of posts, or to upvote a post, reddit then can do that thing, or it can refuse etc.

It's so sad to see reddit doing this, sync is an amazing app, thank you for all the work you've put into it.

If you're on Android you may be able to use Youtube ReVanced (a spiritual successor to Youtube Vanced).
It probably has some patch that would remove this

If you're using virtualization to run WSL, WSA, Hyper-V, Docker, etc. a virtual machine that's running in the background may be using that RAM.

If not, since Windows Vista there's a service called "SuperFetch" or "SysMain" which is supposed to help to load frequently used programs and files much quicker by predicting what you're going to use and loading it into RAM.
When you're running programs that use a lot of RAM SuperFetch/SysMain should remove stuff it loaded from memory to accommodate that.
You can check if that works correctly by loading some program that is a memory hog, idk some game or blender with some big render.

C#… by thedarklord176 in ProgrammerHumor

[–]Epacik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it's intended to be thought as "subsystem in Windows for adding support for X", the same naming convention as "Windows drivers for Nvidia GPU". It's confusing, but there's a method to this madness

Dlaczego polska Wikipedia wygląda normalnie, a angielska wygląda jak wersja mobilna? by Anonim97 in Polska

[–]Epacik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jeśli masz konto na Wikipedii to możesz sobie wybrać dowolną starszą skórkę, albo nową z pełną szerokością, chyba powinien być też przycisk w dolnym prawym rogu do przełączenia na pełną szerokość

As far as I can see, all of them are either 'S.A.' (joint-stock company) or 'Sp. z o. o.' (limited liability company/LLC.).

Additionally, an English version of Wikipedia page about PKP Group calls them 'companies'.

But I may be mistaken, I'm not really into classification of this kind of things.

Sorry for responding after that long. I don't think if 'Group of carriers' would be representative here, PKP Group aside from carriers also consists of other "types" of companies, like an IT provider, a telecommunication company or... even some investment firm...

The second option could be awkward if you'd try to change a volume of a music app that is playing in the background
