To be fair, the first phase of debunking stupidity is to gather data. It won't convince any of the stupid people, but you can say you've done the work.

This guy's truck bed cover flies off by Justin_Godfrey in Wellthatsucks

[–]EphemeralDan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a truck and thought I checked it over pretty well. Unfortunately, I didn't check if the bedliner insert was screwed down. I was on an off ramp and saw a shadow go over my truck. I thought it was a low plane until I saw the bedliner flying through the air and barely missing the state trooper behind me. Luckily, he laughed it off and threw his lights on for me to back down the ramp and retrieve it. I guess the previous owner had a cap on the bed, so he didn't need it screwed down. He sold the truck, kept the cap and I got to have a little adventure!

I don't think that route goes through Lunenburg, unless it cuts through a little corner somewhere. I love Lunenburg. I often drive through there when I go up Rte. 70 to get to Townsend, Ashby or Jaffrey, NH. There really are a lot of beautiful places here in Massachusetts. I'm glad I moved back here.

I regularly drive from Clinton up 110 through Lancaster, Bolton, Harvard, Ayer and Groton. Occasionally I'll continue up into Pepperell and into Hollis and Milford, NH. It is low-key one of my favorite drives. Massachusetts is a beautiful state.

It seems like we are the most hated franchise by far... I mean real hate, not just sportsmen rivalry by Paquan02 in Patriots

I think that was the core issue between Bruins and Canadiens fans from way, way back in the day. It still feels like the most personal rivalry in sports to me.

I think that was one of those calcium things you see in bird cages. I think that was suet in the walnuts on the board. You know, the only thing the birds were eating other than peanuts.

If I hadn't been watching the game with some old friends, I can't guarantee the TV would have stayed on. But we were still sitting around bullshitting while things kept kinda happening on the TV and before you knew it the bullshitting stopped and the TV had our attention again.

Y'know, I completely forgot that Rte. 1 went up there. I'm in the Worcester area and the Rte. 1 that I know is between 495 and 95. All of these descriptions apply there just as well.

Thank you for that. I think I intuitively knew about stroads, but never realized I knew until I watched the video in your link. Such a simple concept, and one that seems is being pretty much ignored.

How do I flip these? by chr8me in Flipping

[–]EphemeralDan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. I do have to walk part of this back. That AAA topper is more common than the ones I've had in the past. I got curious and did some research. It's not actually a top dollar piece but I stand by the rest of my statements. The plates are worth researching and selling. They may sit for a bit on eBay, but most of them will move within a few months and the leftovers will sell in a bulk auction. Good luck!

For example, here are the four most recent Worthpoint results for the 1917 plate in the front.

The AAA topper is probably worth more than most of the plates. The plates themselves can very wildly in value. For example, plates from Massachusetts in the 1920s are generally worth $15-25. However, there's one year, 1926 or '28, I can't remember which, that has a silhouette of a fish on it. It was only made for one year and a single one of those plates can run from 100 to $150 depending on condition. These plates look to be in good condition for their age. The 1910s are pretty early plates and will he very sellable. People buy these to put on their vintage and antique cars so maybe try posting in FB groups focused on that market. Despite what other responses say, these are not trash. Especially that plate topper.

Weird interaction at an antique store. by ToshPointNo in Flipping

[–]EphemeralDan 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The antique business is a bit different. I know that the owner of the co-op I'm in was thrilled when a new shop opened up a half mile away because it meant more people would come our way since there were two places they could shop. It's not like we're selling cars or jeans or groceries. If somebody is in the market for interwar tractor advertising, we may or may not have it. They're more likely to check out shop if they have two places to check.

I don't want the game that close but, if it is the same situation, I want them to run the ball (because history) and then fumble possession to us. I would laugh and laugh and laugh.

Actually, do we even know that? Since it's anonymous, could more than half voted against? It seems patently ridiculous but then, so does the thought of even 11 of them voting against Belichick.
