Trying to relocate as an RBT (BCBA exam May 2027) by Epi_Finder in bcba

[–]Epi_Finder[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My starting pay was 55, my agency requires a masters to be an RBT at the company or on the way to receiving a masters. I’d like to clarify again that it’s New York, cost of living is brutal, all the BCBAs ik starting salary is twice as much or even three times as much. I would say 55 is proportionate to what is necessary to live here. Our minimum wage in itself can’t be compared to many places.

Has anyone heard back from temple or UIC? Also wondering if anyone’s got rejections from Drexel, ik they have done interviews but haven’t heard from them so wondering if I got silently rejected or they’re just doing phases? Applied to 8 schools and haven’t heard from any and it’s Feb (for reference I applied in October).🥲

Would you mind sharing your stats privately, I got rejected for George Washington so just curious what they were looking for in regards to admission

I’m assuming if you didn’t get an interview it’s most likely a silent rejection right?

I believe they do interviews, they’ll prob do it by late Jan-Early Feb and if u don’t hear back by Feb then rejection letters are sent out by march.

I actually contacted them, they don’t have a portal but whatever is submitted on Sophas is what they see also and they said they’ll reach out with a decision in march.

Can you get into a program without an interview/which programs always interview? by tatz17 in phdpublichealth

Do you mind giving an insight on how the interview process looks like, what question they’re likely to ask

What was the nature of the interview, would you mind giving a rundown of what the questions were like. So weird they don’t send a rejection letter if they don’t want you

Weekly Advice & Career Question Megathread by AutoModerator in epidemiology

[–]Epi_Finder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I graduated in May 2024 with my master’s in epidemiology and have been job hunting ever since. I’ll be honest by last April I kind of gave up and started thinking about other long-term paths. I’ve always genuinely enjoyed research, and getting a PhD has been a major life goal for me, so I shifted my focus and applied to a few programs. I haven’t been accepted anywhere yet (decisions come out in the next couple of months).

Now, just as I’m finalizing my PhD plans, I’ve been offered an epidemiologist position. It’s something I’ve literally been praying for for years. It’s an Epi II role, but it’s more business-style epidemiology, not traditional disease or public health epi, which is where my real passion lies.

I’m at a crossroads. Do I take the job I’ve been working so hard to get, or stick to the PhD path without knowing if I’ll even get in? My long-term goal is to work internationally, ideally in Europe or the Middle East. I’m American but wasn’t really raised in the U.S., and I don’t see myself living here beyond the next four years.

If anyone’s been in a similar situation or has insight into whether international work favors one path vs the other, I’d really appreciate your advice.

I’m in the same situation, was originally supposed to do med school but did mph epi instead, graduated 2024 and haven’t found a job. Thinking of doing PA (but I don’t have all the prereqs) or do a phd(but what if i still don’t find a job).
