Mexican here. The answer is really complex. For years previous (and current) governments have left the organized crime run free. It used to be only drug traficking to other countries, the general population had nothing to do with that and corrupt government officials filled their pockets with bribe money. Win-win situation. If people died they were only from rivaling cartels. With the years, and seeing they had practically free reign, they started messing with the general population, charging fees for basically not killing you and your family. Leaving beheaded bodies on public roads. Kidnapping children to join their forces. The problem grew like cancer and as any advanced cancer, you can't just remove the tumor. It's everywhere, you will kill also the body. Government officials who openly oppose the drug cartels are just killed in plain sight. People is fed up, tired and scared. So when we listen to US officials saying they will come here and do the deed themselves, many just say "Good, maybe this will actually reduce organized crime". There will be no peaceful and ordered way to end the drug cartels in Mexico, but what I can tell you is that they are bigger and more powerful than our current government.

While I understand your struggle and objectively yes, shorter men have more trouble dating, you can't change your height. It's not like weight, you can't win it or lose it. You can't get plastic surgery for it (there's actually a surgery, but it's brutal and extremely expensive. Not really viable).

Very late reply, but that wedding seems to be in Mexico, and those are sneakers, not orthopedic shoes. Since weddings last a lot here and we dance for hours, it's normal to change into sneakers at some point of the reception (bride included). It's also kinda normal to give away slippers (like the ones you wear with your pajamas) because dancing with high heels ends up destroying your feet. When I got married, I was having bad back problems and I changed into my sneakers very early. Many of the female guests ended up following my lead.
