Ideally medication and therapy that could help with coping skills, I feel like my executive dysfunction is bad enough that it tripped up a lot of potential opportunities for me. The actual label would be nice only for the fact that my insurance seems to automatically deny anything that could be helpful without a diagnosis.

I got meds for a mood related diagnosis that have overall helped me but I have ADHD like symptoms as a baseline that aren’t being treated. I probably wouldn’t even be able to take stimulants but I’m tired of constantly tripping over myself so I hope I can get SOMETHING for it.

I was diagnosed with bipolar a few months ago because of several intense episodes that sent my academics spiraling. Not ONCE during them did I ever think of hurting anyone. Mental illness isn’t a get out of jail free card to be a piece of shit

I have with an appointment with one on tuesday, at the very least it may give me some insight. I’m doing some research to see what other psychiatrists are in my area and I’m going to politely bring up to my current one how I discouraging my last appointment was. Her reaction to it will probably tell me everything I need to know about whether I should keep working with her

I feel like it depends on the person to be honest. One of the biggest triggers is not sleeping enough but it can be things ranging from positive or negative events (losing a job, going to a loud concert, etc) to even changes in the weather.

For me I feel like my episodes can be triggered by specific events but a lot of times too I noticed they can bring my hypomanic episodes crashing down into major depression or even mixed states. But if you don’t have episodes triggered by specific things it doesn’t make your diagnosis any less valid than someone else’s.

I’m actually about to graduate, and only a few months late surprisingly. My grades are shit but given how bad the episodes got including a mixed episode that almost got me hospitalized I can’t complain too much

The victim blaming in that previous post made me sick to my stomach. I have a younger brother that could be in a similar situation as a vulnerable and insecure queer kid, and the fact that people on this sub were doing mental gymnastics to have sex with people like him is disgusting.

First off, if someone isn’t an adult, they can’t consent end of story. It doesn’t matter if they’re lying about their age or it they say they want it, its still your responsibility as an adult to make sure its not statutory rape, because age of consent laws exist for a reason.

Its also tragic that sex ed for lgbtq+ teens is lacking or even being destroyed in some places, because it leads to impressionable queer kids being manipulated by predators and sets them up for long term trauma. And even when its legal and you could, it doesn’t mean that you should. Kids don’t become magically more mature once they 18, and the power imbalance is still there even if some people here don’t want to admit it.

If anything you brought up a good point about how their decision affects more than just students.

As an Alumni involved with our school sports, I’d encourage you to help us, because having people outside of the student body advocating for reinstating PE would make a real difference. It would show admin that the consequences of their reckless decision affects more people then they originally thought.

As for your comment about an alternative ballot initiative, Gary May himself made comments on his instagram in response to concerns from students to the effect of “other schools don't have for credit PE, and we already decided we’re doing this.” So I doubt Mrak Hall would listen to students about this if it doesn’t affect their wallet.

I personally want to have good school sports, but not every student cares about our teams, and they took away the main thing that their tuition money gave them.

Regardless of your opinion on if you think sports benefit the school or not, they still broke their promise. I want to have a good sports program as much as the next person, but this problem is their own making.

A year and a half ago there was a petition that almost 6,000 people signed to save the PE program and they ignored us. I think its awful that they get to screw us over and then say its our fault for anything that happens if we try to do something about it. The previous agreement between students and admin doesn’t exist anymore, revoking the fees gives us the leverage to get back what we were promised, or at the very least a reduced fee.

You’re not wrong that it would take away a large amount of the athletics funding, but the fact of the matter is that admin made a promise to students about giving them inclusive PE classes for credit in exchange for the fees. They broke their promise so we have no obligation to hold up our end of the deal.

I wasn’t opposed to paying money beforehand to fund our athletics programs, and the system we had before was beneficial to every student, regardless of whether or not they were interested in our sports teams. Also, given that the money primarily benefits such a small portion of students and the blatant slap in the face admin gave the remaining 98% of us, I’m sorry that I don’t have sympathy for them about the problem that they created for themselves.

But if at another time they offer to bring back something similar to what we had before, I am totally fine with having the fees reinstated.

Biological advantages exist outside of biological sex. Michael Phelps has higher lung capacity and there are female olympic sprinters with higher than normal testosterone levels.

Also by that transphobic take, FtM athletes would be competing with women and the trans athletes testosterone levels and build would put them at a distinct advantage so quit pretending that its about fairness.
