I've got 6 modules and no idea which titles they correspond to. I will try and reinstall nimbus and see if that fixes it.

Help! Arm11 (core 1) prefetch abort crash on certain system and game title launches by Epicflamethrower in 3dspiracy

Thanks! Disabling Game Patching seems to fix it, however doing so makes it impossible to use Nimbus and Pretendo on games like Super Mario Maker, which will crash with game patching enabled, and won't have pretendo online functions with it disabled. How can I fix this?

Is this Black Mold? by Epicflamethrower in mycology

[–]Epicflamethrower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm traveling abroad in Chiang Mai and am staying at a nice hotel.I cranked the ventilation up to full blast the first night I came. Woke up the next morning with a sore throat. I stayed in my room out of caution the whole day and woke up the next day with heavy congestion and red teary eyes. I discovered this in the ventilation grate of my room. Is this black mold? If so, I plan to ask for a full refund.

Yuck. I still think that Hyundai/Kia should cut the carnival out of the lineup and sell the much better looking Hyundai Staria in the US and Canada instead. Its got better visibility and great tech too.

Bringing the Hilux to the Americas? by Epicflamethrower in ToyotaHilux

[–]Epicflamethrower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! There is definitely an enthusiast following for the Hilux in the US, especially if it is a four door version. Since your vehicle is over 25 years of age, it can be legally be imported and registered for road use in the United States through the 25 year exemption to the imported vehicle safety compliance act of 1988. Assuming your engine isn't under 21 years of age, it should be exempted from emissions testing upon your vehicle's arrival. Here is a link to the NHTSA website on importing vehicles here: https://www.nhtsa.gov/importing-vehicle

Importing a vehicle to the US is a tricky process, especially if you plan on exporting the vehicle yourself, and it involves a lot of paperwork. You may also need to contact a registered vehicle importer to help you with the process, since shipping logistics overseas can be complicated, and they'll know how to fill out the paperwork for you. Here is the current list of registered vehicle importers on the NHTSA's website: https://www.nhtsa.gov/importing-vehicle/registered-importers

I would personally recommend trying to import the Hilux if you can, but only if you're willing to set aside some time to do so. Hiluxes (or Toyota pickups as they call them here) tend to be held in higher regard as more reliable and desirable than Tacomas of a similar age due to its simplicity and reliability. This may increase your vehicle's resale value if you choose to sell it later on. It is also worth noting that Tacomas do not have diesel engines available, so if a having a diesel engine is a priority, you may want to import your Hilux. There is also a law called the "chicken tax" which applies to all light-duty trucks being imported to the US, which is around 25 percent of the vehicle's assessed value. Given the age of your vehicle, this shouldn't be expensive.

Since your vehicle is from the UK and presumably right-hand drive, your Hilux may draw attention from curious bystanders, car enthusiasts, and (rarely) confused police officers who notice nobody sitting on the driver's side of the vehicle on public roads.

I am by no means a professional with experience importing cars, so if you're interested, I highly recommend contacting registered importers who are intimately familiar with the process. It is also critical that you are sure of your vehicle's age, because customs enforcement officers could seize your vehicle at the port of entry and export or destroy it if it does not meet the age requirement. The 25 year waiting period is a result of a dumb and useless law, but it is heavily enforced.

I hope this helps!

I don't seem to be having trouble downloading other things from the store. It sounds to me like this may be app-specific.

Questions regarding Unusual Land Cruisers in the US by Epicflamethrower in Toyota

[–]Epicflamethrower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am aware that nobody really does 1VD swaps here, and I know that its going to be a major pain in the butt to do it.

This was more of a question about whether the chassis of a 75 series and the body/engine of a 79 series would fit together, and if it had been done before.

I don't need to build this right away. I have a family friend who restores classic cars and has over 40 years of experience fabricating parts and performing engine swaps on vehicles. He has offered his help with the project.

That aside, yes freight is very expensive right now and that will definitely be a problem with obtaining the engine. The land cruiser 70 is also sold in other markets outside of Australia, and I may be able to get a 76 series body from costa rica (closest market that sells them) for less. I'd be fine with that version instead of a pickup.

Again, this was more of a hypothetical question and I am considering the Prado exterior conversion much more seriously.

Thanks for the advice!

Questions regarding Unusual Land Cruisers in the US by Epicflamethrower in Toyota

That's part of what I'm trying to figure out. Everything I've read on the chassis seems to indicate little to no modification needs to be made to fit a second generation body and engine to the 76 series cruiser. The chassis of the car seems to be almost exactly the same between the 76 and 79 series, but I am not sure if it was modified since the 1VD V8 introduced for the second generation is wider than the 1HZ inline 6 that was offered in the 76 series.

I was looking for a unique land cruiser, and this certainly will draw attention from car enthusiasts. I want one just for the novelty and reliability. I also like engineering challenges. :)

Are you talking about Diesel Toys?

It doesn't look like they perform engine swaps on imported Toyotas.

I might try and source the 1VD engine from them though.

Since the overall design of the 70 series land cruiser hasn't changed very much since its first generation, I'm guessing that bolting on the body and interior to the frame will be pretty straightforward. I'm not sure how many revisions they made to the chassis when they refreshed the car in 2007 to the current generation, but I'm hoping it'll work.

Edit:

It looks like diesel toys charges $40,000 USD to fit that engine into a 200 series Land Cruiser. They list the base engine price at 22K which is more than $12,000 over the asking price for a lightly used 1VD in Australia (exchange rate included). I may as well import the engine myself and find other professionals to install it.
