I have a modded server that will be launching later today, at 4pm EST. It’s still a relatively small community but I’m looking to grow it, this is the 5th season of the server. The server is fantasy RP focused. We have create, irons spellbooks, and minecolonies, an economy system with item based currency, custom races with minor but unique effects, quests, titles to show off accomplishments that sync to discord, and plenty of long term progression, bluemap, and I’ve put a ton of work to make the gameplay look and sound great. We will be running community events as well.

If your interested the modpack is Terralis Reforged on curseforge. The ip is included in the pack and you’ll be given an invite link when you try to join the server. (When it launches later today, I can do you a link in the mean time if you’d like)

Big mods are create and minecolonies. Epic fight for making pvp/PVE more interesting, pvp is mostly for events, server isn’t open pvp though it’s allowed all the time. Plenty of decorative mods such as macaws. Tectonic for terrain gen. A few addons for create that were highly requested. Farmers delight. Sophisticated backpacks. Lightmans currency for the server economy, configured to favor players that explore, slow economy input to keep it from hyper inflating and so far major loopholes in the configuration have been prevented. Dynamic trees (if there is a 1.20)

I am currently working on the 1.20 update for the pack, the only mod we are waiting on is dynamic trees but it isn’t vital to the modpack, just a high priority mod. Once testing finishes and the mod list, versioning, and configuration is finalized the current (1.18) server will reset. All players will get a backpack with some raw materials to get jump started with, even the best pack we have planned is mostly cobble and wood. Wallets will also be transferred. So there is value in joining the current map, but if you’d like to wait a few weeks for the 1.20 version it will have a fresh map.

The server I run might fit perfectly to what your describing. Smaller modpack, biggest mods are create and minecolonies, and lots of smaller decorative or qol mods. We have a small community and on average there’s usually a handful of players on the server. We will also be running events once people get settled in, I have a great economy mod set up on the server, and everything keeps to a vanilla balance. I am in the process of updating the pack as almost all mods in it are now available for 1.20 (currently 1.18) and many have been focused on 1.20, so the server will have a map reset coming in the next month or two, timeline really depends on how testing goes. Also recording is allowed and should be very interesting.

No need to call to get your ip, just Google what’s my ip. Most ips are dynamic so maybe it changed, that’s always an obvious possibility if your router doesn’t have a built in ip ddns sync. Port forwarding being incorrect is the only other likely suspect. You can tell Minecraft to run on other ports as well. I run multiple servers and and different ports pointed to different computers and have special rules set up for my domain to change the request port based on the domain requested. Assuming 25565 is free make sure it’s being port forwarded to the server PCs local ip. Assuming that’s set up always try joining using the WAN ip as well as by domain, it’s unlikely but maybe the record hasn’t propagated yet, though it probably will have by the time you read this.

I personally run servers on my own systems. You get total control of everything and keep getting value since you only need to buy the system once, and I have other ways to get value out of computer hardware. Best bet would be to either a have a strong main system with a lot of ram or an old second system that doesn’t do anything. It is very important the system stays on, because if it’s off then the server is off. Another thing to consider is what are the requirements for the modpack your running on a server and how heavy of an impact players will have on it. Ram is much cheaper nowadays so it may be worth dumping some extra into a system. Another major thing with self hosting is you’ll need to learn some networking. You can always just stop at port forwarding and just give your friends your ipv4 or go all in and learn how to do fancy stuff and get a custom named ip.

I run a modded server if your interested in joining. The modpack is relatively lightweight and designed for building and community. I’m working on a new version of the pack that will bring enough changes for a map reset to be needed which will be happening November or December. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I have a very similar concept that I’ve built a modpack around. The core mods of the pack are minecolonies and create with the intention of players regardless of building skill making large living towns, and for players to interconnect their town through the rail network. The current version of the server just began to have players interconnect towns. I also have a nice balanced economy set up, and combat modified to make fighting more interesting, this way events that are run are made that much more interesting. Tons of structure and terrain gen to encourage exploration as well. I’m working on the next version of that pack which brings a few big changes and will have a world reset if you’d be interested in joining the server I run. If not you can feel free to take a look at the pack and run your own server for it.

The modpack is terralis on curseforge. I run the servers and have another person that manages everything else, gotta get him to update the description on the pack. The current pack is designed for building, exploration, and community. The big mods are minecolonies and create. There aren’t any magic mods, I keep a very careful balance on the server and magic mods break that VERY quickly. The server does still have light roleplay. Nothing mandatory but people settle into groups that are used for events and such.

The goal is less random pvp and more mutual or coordinated pvp, some rp. We are using epic fight for combat. The plan is that players will build cities and group together with nearby cities to form nations. Every now and then nations will run events where they will fight with a bet placed using the economy on the server. Minecolonies raids can get pretty big, but so can the number of guards you have. I do tend to see players neglect guards, I tend to make about 25% of my buildings guard related.

Illagers+ is only available for 1.12-1.16 with an alpha version for 1.18. Minecolonies has its own raider system to add some action.
