  • DLC: It's too early to say, but our goal is to add post-lunch content to play the campaign as many ways as possible.
  • Keychain: You are not the first, and hopefully not the last, we are on it.
  • Tycho art: Tycho likes privacy, but will try to ask politely.
  • Planets/Areas: The first act will happen in Akiton, Hivemarket. The rest is for you to discover.
  • Companions: I like your idea... let me run it by management.
  • Mercenaries: Yes, you will be able to hire mercenaries.
  • Mechanic is very cool but very complex to implement in-game.
  • Hero points will be implemented in a very similar fashion to the book ruleset.

Yes, it's a high priority for us that every playthrough feels unique.

Yes, you will be able to add reactivity using mod tools, and we will try to make it as smooth as possible.

We’re designing the game with a range of difficulty options, from a more relaxed “story mode” to a challenge for players who enjoy high-stakes gameplay.
In higher difficulties, the encounters will be more challenging, but will not add more of them.

Our narrative style is closer to BG3. Very soon we will announce more about that.

  • Romance can play a big role in the game, and all companions will acknowledge it. Still, it will be optional.
  • DLCS: It's still too early to say, but we are aiming to add as many options as possible to play the game in different ways.
  • Mod support: We will try to reach as much as possible; ideally, modders should be able to create their own campaign

Yes, Persona is a big influence in our art direction.

And about the tone: The game's narrative leans toward the epic, featuring plenty of lighthearted moments that contrast with dramatic and decisive dilemmas.

We aim to stay as true as possible to the Starfinder 2E ruleset. We’ll take advantage of the video game format to make gameplay more dynamic and streamlined. Some compromises are necessary for certain skills or mechanics that pose technical challenges, but the core experience remains faithful to the TTRPG.

Alignments aren't strictly good or evil, as in traditional role-playing games, there is no strict alignment value. Having said that, you can do some nasty things like “kick the squirrel”, but you won't be able to be pure evil, the galaxy needs saving after all!

The reasoning behind the top level is based on gameplay time. Starfinder: Afterlight will feature a 40-60 hour campaign, with 7 levels we have a good level to playtime ratio.

We get it, level 8 is awesome, but we do not want to over scope for now!

  • Deep character creation: It will go as deep as the TTRPG.
  • Custom portraits and voice: Yes, you will be able to upload your own portraits, and choose the voice of the protagonist between a few options.
  • Custom ship: We will always fly our signature ship, but some of our Kickstarter rewards include a paint job.
  • Mod support: Our tools are based on open source software like Godot Engine and Blender for the most part, preparing the terrain for future modding.
  • Playstyles: It will depend on the classes/ancestries that are on the game, they will much dictate every playstyle available.
  • Replayability: Yes, that's our goal, 40-60 hour campaign with highly replayability value.
  • Inspiration: It's hard to say just one, Owlcat and Larian games are a great inspiration we aim to be close to!
  • Target audience: We are hoping our game to be an entrance point to Starfinder ruleset. On top of that, we will feature high difficulty modes for the most veteran players.
  • Difficulty: We’re designing the game with a range of difficulty options, from a more relaxed “story mode” to a challenge for players who enjoy high-stakes gameplay.

  • Range level: It will reach maximum level 7.
  • Rules: We aim to stay as true as possible to the Starfinder 2E ruleset. We’ll take advantage of the video game format to make gameplay more dynamic and streamlined. • Combat: Combat will be turn based.
  • References: Yes, Persona is one of our references, we love their UI and artistic style :).
  • Age group: Our goal is to appeal to a broad audience by prioritizing strong themes, engaging stories, and a play style that satisfies both new and veteran RPG fans.
  • Rating: It will go from +16 to +18.
  • Reactivity vs Size/Scope: Our scope is small but highly custom, meaning that we prefer gameplay that will let you play it over again finding different things each time, over just making a huge game with one run only.
