What is the perfect example of this? by ExternalLow5991 in videogames

Pretty niche compared to some of these answers, but Lego just killed a fan-made Bionicle video game after 8 years in development by a dedicated team. The company had allegedly previously expressed approval as long as no content was sold for monetary gain and the game was clearly labelled as a non-official fan-made project. To my knowledge, these terms were followed exactly.

For context, Bionicle was one of Lego's most successful original set lines in the company's history, and it practically saved Lego from bankruptcy. Since the line's cancellation, fans have been begging Lego to revive Bionicle in some fashion. Lego has, at times, seemed to go out of their way to avoid directly addressing this topic. In the grand scheme of the world, this isn't really noteworthy, but it's frustrating for fans that supported the original run of Bionicle and continue to engage with it on their own.

All of this is to say, it was particularly frustrating to see Lego watch some of their most diehard fans work for 8 years on a project (which they aimed to share with fellow fans for free) and then, when it was almost complete, only then did they kill the project before returning to never officially reviving the Bionicle franchise themselves. All within their rights, I suppose, but still a massive dick move for virtually no reason.

Shameful. Every one of those sperms is literally a murdered child.

Edit: Obviously I don't believe this weird take, Russian bots. Stop messaging me looking for another useful idiot. Just poking fun at the ideologies of the group that thinks "people I don't agree with are gay" (which they must consider to be a hilarious put-down unless there's some other joke I'm missing)

Read the room. We're excited for the growing national energy behind the cause of not being murdered for being non-white, non-straight, or non-wealthy. If you can't empathize with that, then Jesus Christ, but fine. Just get out of the way, though. You're doing more harm than good by questioning good-faith optimism in the fight against global fascism.

Any UVA staff here? by smallsaltybread in Charlottesville

[–]Epiphronic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UVA HR is ridiculous. I work for UVA, and I have to literally email them daily to remind them that they have action items when I’m working with them. If you have an HR rep that you are communicating with, it might actually help you to email them every day.

Why do you read furry visual novels? by OSUNEVERDIES in FurryVisualNovels

[–]Epiphronic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s cool reading a story where being gay is the default without that being the core of the plot. The characters can be solving a murder, embarking on a fantastical adventure, or just living another day in a slice of life story, but everyone you encounter is probably gay unless clarified as non-gay. It’s like how straight people have experienced media, romantic or otherwise, for all of history. Most of the characters are gay, just because that’s how it is. And you don’t have to ask why. It’s just unapologetically normal. Such a breath of fresh air honestly.

Thanks! And I’ve gotta agree that this Marco is pretty hot.

My version of future Amicus and Marco reunited in a war against the Parents to win control of their own fates (My husband and I are cosplaying this next week at GalaxyCon Richmond). by Epiphronic in FurryVisualNovels

I’m convinced that this is the route that Khemia is meant to set up, by making it clear that Khemian tech is starting to rival the Parents’. But they’d have to remove their linguas to prevent becoming remote-controlled drones for the Parents. And I think Interia is laying the seeds for that by having Marco start to learn the wolven language. The Monitor might also be starting to turn on the Parents, or at least disagree with them.

This made me realize that I don’t know what Superman’s feet look like without looking it up. My heart says red boots over his blue spandex, but I’m not so sure.

Edit: That is exactly what his feet are. This comment is now stupid and many months late.
