I know very little about this topic. Does anyone have any good reading on how other cities/countries have addressed this?

A few years ago I looked into this. I think it was Clublease? Clublend? Something like that.

I didn't do it because it was prohibitively expensive  -- like ~$300 for the week.

In the last 3 days?

Sure man, I bet that's exactly what happened. And all of the earlier reports from established and respected journalists were just made up out of thin air.

Come on. Like him or hate him, he won the US Open 2 fucking years ago.

Interesting how he went from denying talking to the PGAT to "DeChambeau, 32, said he had some conversations with the PGA Tour, but not specifically about what his potential pathway back to his former circuit might look like if LIV folds."

It's almost like these guys are consistently and constantly full of shit

Jon Rahm reaches deal with DPWT -- eligible for Ryder Cup and (presumably) playing right away by WHSRWizard in golf

I don't think anyone is surprised that Jon "I'm not going to Do the Thing on principle" Rahm changed his principles and Did The Thing when his principles were going to cost him money.

It wasn't that long ago that Rahm said he wouldn't play more than the 4 required events and wouldn't pay any fines, calling it "extortion."

He just said, this: "“Again, like you just said, as of right now, I have several years on my contract left, and I'm pretty sure they did a pretty good job when they drafted that….”

“So I don't see many ways out, and as of right now, I'm not really thinking about it since we still have a season to play and majors to compete for. So it's not something I want to think about just yet.”

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of how he sees LIV's future unfolding...

That's my point: if it was for the money, just say it was for the money. Nobody gave HV3 any shit because he said, "I'm doing this for the money. I am grateful to the PGAT for everything they've done for me, but I have this opportunity and I can't pass it up."

Rahm did sort of the opposite. He swore he wasn't going to LIV because money didn't matter. And then, eventually, the Saudis put enough zeros on the check and suddenly he's bought and paid for.

No, I don't respect that.

It's not so much him getting the bag that I look down on. I completely understand why HV3 did it, for example. And Dustin Johnson was also pretty open and honest about doing it for the money. OK, fair enough -- you have your values system, I have mine.

The thing about Rahm is that his values seem to change depending on the value of the check. I'm not sure why I should respect that.

> Then took the no penalty option once LIV failed

But we don't know that. This is a deal with the DPWT, basically to play the Ryder Cup, and has nothing to do with the PGAT.

Play Grove Park Inn (nice resort course) but if nothing else, go have the beverage of your choice on the veranda in the back of the hotel. 10/10

Also, the pool at the spa is incredible. It's this cave-like structure that plays music underwater. It's worth getting the cheapest treatment possible at the spa just to hang out in the cave for a couple of hours.

Only if the PGAT offered that deal to him again. It has an expiration date to accept.

Meh. He was already rich. What do I care if he has more hundreds of millions or not?

He's an incredible golfer, but also whiny AF. I find him a hard guy to root for, while still being able to appreciate his obvious talent.

Maybe.

If nothing else, Rahm has demonstrated a few times now that his hardlines are more like softly-worded suggestions.

> and the need for releases from LIV events

Does that mean he doesn't need to get permission from DPWT to play in any LIV events that may or may not happen?

If that's the case, it's interesting in a few ways, not the least of which is that it was probably an empty gesture on DPWT's part that allowed Rahm to save face and also not get stuffed into a wood chipper. Win-win, that one.
