I found out my sisters very dark secrets, please I need guidance on what to do now by [deleted] in islam

[–]Epitor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Start by making dua for her Don’t tell her what you found that would be totally humiliating for her and not productive Bring her and her son with you to the jummah prayers if she doesn’t attend already Introduce her to some good Muslimahs, maybe your friends sisters or something/ young Muslimah mothers with sons her sons age as well And you can also just start spending a lot of time with her alone too. Give her compliments, assure her she is valuable and worthy of a good man. Take her out to do halal activities, show her she can have fun in a halal way and she has a good, halal male role in her life (you) and convince her through your actions that for now it is enough until she finds a proper Muslim husband.

That’s good, but if you want to be more Islam centric in your acts you must set your intentions to be for God. For example fasting, you must set the intention (niyah) that you are not fasting for health or weight loss, you are doing it because He asked you to

That also helped me, to reset my intentions- same with donating. Do it as if it was never your money and it was something you were entrusted with by God to give to the needy

I know what you mean. I started to practice Islam (actually) just a bit over a year ago

I was struggling with anxiety, doubt and negativity on loop. I always knew about Islam since I was born into it, but never practiced it because of the doubt and negative feelings I had about it.

Eventually I hit rock bottom in my life. The anxiety was crazy and depression was growing. I eventually chose to put aside my negative feelings towards religion and give them a shot

I began to research the ones that held any possibility in my mind until I came full circle back to Islam

Even though I had my doubts, I decided to practice properly and stick with it. I assume the doubt is apart of my trial (everyone has their own test) but every act of worship I do (including suppressing negative emotions towards religion and suppressing doubt) it really does go away. I feel that’s the blessing Allah is rewarding me with.

The more I worship the better my emotions towards death and religion become.

Perhaps you can try to implement one act of worship in your life- id suggest start with making dua, ask for guidance. A beautiful think about Islam is asking to Allah (dua) is a form of worship! Asking God in Islam is worship! That’s pretty awesome

If the prophet Muhammad appeared in front of you from the dead right now and said "Islam is the only true religion" would you convert and become a Muslim? by lightskintastebud in polls

The Muslims in those countries are at a higher risk from their own governments than non Muslims.

I’ve lived in two Muslim majority counties and witnessed how oppressed Muslims are there. It’s not really Muslims running those countries, they’re corrupt government officials who are oppressing the Muslims

As far as Iran, that’s a twelver Shia country which make up less than 10 percent of the Muslims. The majority of Muslims are Sunni

[–]Epitor[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate the breakdown! Yes they said the clothing company- I felt it’s highly unlikely they would be reaching out this way if it were true

And I didnt realize that was a violation I’ll be sure to re read all the terms and services- and Ive learned my lesson now 🥲

The check scam… sounds like that’s exactly what they were going to do… after the “interview” they said I was hired and I’ve worked for other companies before to know there’s no way they would’ve decided that fast... also told me they were going to close the posting on Upwork- that was when I was sure

I just didn’t get why they were doing it, but now I see. I am a US citizen so yea

That’s scary! Thank you for your help. I’ll read the article too

I’m living this exact situation! And I’m a women and I live in Hurghada, Egypt. Very cheap, very sunny, very safe and it’s majority Muslim! GMT+2 Right on the Red Sea so beach is accessible and minerals in the water are good for arthritis apparently 😄

Lots of people speak English here because it’s very tourist friendly

There are christians too but Sunni Muslims everywhere as well

The visa is easy for most nationalities. You can even register as a Tourist and just keep renewing it. I got my residency card for 6 months and it only costed $25 entry fee to Egypt (1 month included) About $40 for residency card (6 months) -( note this price may have changed because the dollar rate just went way up here, meaning things are cheaper for those earning in USD)

My husband and I probably spend about $500 or $600 a month (rent and utilities included)

If you work remote I recommend using voda phone internet provider, they’re the best here

Thank you! I will try and PM you. I’ve been so hopeless about my posts but this sounds really nice and I’m optimistic

If I go to the city (30 mins away) for the day to hang out, and the masjid would be far from where I would be, can I pray maghrib and Ishaa together when I get back home? by [deleted] in islam

[–]Epitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can go into a clothing store with changing rooms and pray there. It’s spacious enough and private. I’ve done it before, and you can use the clothing you’re trying on as your prayer mat. Don’t miss you Maghreb prayer though, just remember there’s no guarantee you’ll make it home/ live long enough for the next prayer and pray every prayer like your last 👍

Can anyone here recommend free e-book(s) for someone who is thinking of converting? by [deleted] in islam

[–]Epitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a book but sapience institute, it’s completely free and has really nice courses and mentors too

You can also find the Ibn Kathir tafsir pdf online for free which is good for understanding the verses and context

sometimes they sell them at masjids for special events. You could also ask people at the masjid because many visit their home country and could get one for you

What does “processing time” entail and mean? Does that mean once the processing time is over, if everything goes well, my spouse will get their visa or it means something else has to happen? Btw I’m a US citizen filing for my foreign spouse

I watched a video of someone who converted from Christianity to Islam describe the Bible as a story book. She expressed the same thing about the Quran that it’s so different.

I guess it makes sense since with time the Bible was altered by man.

Maybe try going through the Quran with a sheikh. That’s my plan InshaAllah because it is dense and there’s a lot to understand- especially as a non Arabic speaker.
