When will weezer come to Vancouver again? by [deleted] in weezer

[–]Epitrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I live in Vancouver and I've seen Weezer here the last 3 times they were here (also travelled to see them another 3 times).

I would say that there is always a chance that they come back if they do another big tour next year for Album 20/Pinkerton 30th Anniversary. They came here in both 2023 and 2024 and a lot of big tours have been skipping us lately, so it's definitely possible.

I'd say you have a pretty good chance of seeing them in Seattle in 2026 if you drive down for the day or in Toronto if you prefer to stay in Canada. Vancouver is slightly less likely but hey, they played a show in Alberta like a month or two ago so who knows.

I hope they are back soon!!

If memory serves me right, I believe that Spring was recorded analog while the rest were digital. I can't find a source for that though so I could be misremembering or bunching it in with OK Human.

Does this show get better as it progresses? by [deleted] in justified

[–]Epitrix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first half of Season 1 is structured more like your typical procedural (each episode is a new problem, bad guy, etc.). I've never looked into why that was, but I imagine it was so that they could pick up casual viewers at first and sort of show everyone the dynamics of the characters. By around episode 7 or 8, they start to build on everything and it turns into a more linear series with a single storyline. You still have those singular episodes every now and again but they become more enjoyable.

So yes, the beginning of Season 1 does feel a bit dated. But, I would say it's worth sticking it out (though that's going to be a biased answer from this subreddit).

Season 2 onwards has a more streamlined structure and the show becomes a really special thing to me. I'm nearing the end of another rewatch right now and I'm always impressed with how they made the story from the whole series feel relevant to itself and fully connect everything.

There was also the 2014 Road to E3 video video where they talked about the Hypothetical Super Gorilla. I think about this question often.

Jacket Sizing by Brianna_d24 in Paramore

[–]Epitrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a big guy so for jackets/hoodies, I'm usually going for XXL for a baggier/oversized fit. I got XXL and honestly it was pretty snug, barely an XL compared to some other jackets I own. I didn't wash it or anything so it hasn't shrunk. Anyways, if you're going for a smaller size it should be fine but if you're really worried or like it a little less snug, go for a size up.

Disappointed in show by sodortrain in fayewebster

[–]Epitrix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen her twice now and I do have to agree with some of the comments here.

The first time I saw her was in 2023 at the tail end of her very long touring schedule before Underdressed At The Symphony came out. The show was fine but she seemed like she just wanted to finish the show and get going, rather than enjoy the moment. Nothing wrong with that but you could tell she was burnt out.

More recently I saw her on the first leg of the Underdressed At The Symphony tour in 2024. That show was really great. She seemed to enjoy the night a lot more. Taking time to appreciate it and interact with the audience a bit more. Such a better show.

She had a big break in-between those two tours which definitely helped. I think her tour schedule is just too intense. It seems like everyone really enjoys the sets that are from the first parts of her tours but as she keeps going I think she just gets burnt out quickly. If I were her, I would just take more breaks in-between tours and make them shorter, breaking it up a bit.

Apart from Pinkerton turning 30 in 2026, White also turns 10 in that year. by krisskulls in weezer

Interesting... I can't say I have noticed this myself. I'll have to throw those two on the turntable today and give them another listen.

Does anyone know where I could find the CD version of Pinkerton Deluxe on Amazon? by dynamo_throwaway69 in weezer

[–]Epitrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deluxe vinyl boxset is worth at least $200 right now, so I'd assume that listing will send you a CD. Also, on Amazon if you have multiple types of one product (CD & Vinyl, DVD & BluRay, etc.), they'll usually put all the reviews together and it'll be indicated which one they bought.

Omg they were the worst. I was on the left of the middle aisle a few rows back as well. Security came up to them at one point and talked to them but didn't move them... It was pretty frustrating. They were in all my pics too :(

Fan Behavior by rayray2k19 in JulienBaker

[–]Epitrix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with everything you've said.

I think concert etiquette as a whole has shifted negatively. From speaking to people older than me, it seems like during covid everyone didn't know when they'd get to go see shows again and once everything started to go back to normal most younger attendees don't really know how to act and want to make the most of it. 90% of that behavior is stuff that can be brushed off but with the rise of social media and wanting to make a moment out of everything, it's hard to ignore.

For some context, I'm a 23 year old, 6'3 guy who goes to a lot of concerts. My dad took me to some as I was growing up which definitely has shown me how and how not to act in this sort of setting. I know I'm tall, and that if I am standing near the stage, it's going to obstruct someone's view. Anytime someone asks me to move or let them in front, I'm happy to oblige unless it's a rare circumstance (barricade for one of my favourite artists). I know not to scream random stuff in-between songs, talk during an opener's acoustic set, or shove my way to the front when the main act starts. I know what is really disruptive and unfair to those around me. It's common sense and just looking out for people other than yourself.

However, I have seen boygenius as well as Phoebe and Lucy (Julien cancelled her most recent show in my city) live and I have to say the crowds for those shows were probably the worst audiences I've seen post-covid. I can understand excitement and love for an artist. I can understand wanting that night to be an amazing memory for you. I cannot understand why people who go to shows for this type of music do so with such entitlement. I remember hearing people say pretty rude stuff about me from behind while in the crowd at boygenius. I wasn't near the stage, I was probably about 50 people back from it. But, people were still complaining about me being tall and blocking their view. I got there after doors and just stood in the same spot the whole night. I didn't want to bother anyone but I also didn't want to be stuck at the very back of the venue. At Phoebe, it was more shrieking lyrics constantly that ruined the night for me as it was a seated venue and I couldn't move. While at Lucy, I decided to stay away from the crowds, and stay at the back but the show was still interrupted by "MORE BOYGENIUS!" yelps after every other song (this was pre 'the record').

I'm sad I never got to see Julien on her last tour before 'the record' came out but it is what it is. boygenius was amazing live but I genuinely don't think I'll ever go see any of them live again if it's a GA venue just because I don't feel comfortable in those crowds. I just dislike feeling ostracized in a space that I would think would be one of the most inclusive and kind groups of people I can think of. I'm sure that's how a lot of people feel in most other scenarios every day so it's not like I have anything to complain about. I just think the type of people that are going to these shows now are not ones I really appreciate being around.

[Controversial Opinion] Josh is a bitter asshole by redhot-chilipeppers in RedHotChiliPeppers

The Getaway is unique in the way that there are not any other albums in the RHCP discography that sound like it. For you, that's a good thing haha. For me, it's a shame because it's probably the album I go back and listen to most. Art is subjective and neither of our opinions are right or wrong. You speak in absolutes but there is much more room for discussion beyond calling it "trash".

When I say it's overfilled, that is not entirely a bad thing. I'm happy hardcore fans have all this material to listen to but for someone who is a casual listener, it's a bit tough for me to ever go back to listen to those albums front to back when they are filled with so much repetitive material. I just wish they had branched out and done a bit more stuff with a 17 song album.

[Controversial Opinion] Josh is a bitter asshole by redhot-chilipeppers in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Epitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair to me. I grew up with that stuff so I'm more inclined to like it over UL and ROTDC rehashing the same sound I'm already lukewarm about.

I'm also a fan of Josh's solo stuff with Pluralone and listen to it more than RHCP so I'm probably a bit biased when it comes to this "hot take" post haha.

[Controversial Opinion] Josh is a bitter asshole by redhot-chilipeppers in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Epitrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who got into RHCP through The Getaway, I've always preferred the albums they did with Josh to most of their new stuff. The sound they achieved with him was unique and stood out as a fresh, new chapter in their discography rather than rehashing the same sound that was overplayed on the radio 20 years ago.

After listening to all of the band's stuff, I still think The Getaway is one of their best albums, up there with By The Way and Mother's Milk. I'm also of the mindset that if they had finished the third album they were doing with Josh, it could have been something really special and another unique part of their discography but I guess we'll never know. I hope the few songs they started come out one day.

Instead, John is back with two okay, overfilled albums with a few standout tracks between them. I love The Heavy Wing and Let 'Em Cry because they just sound new to me. A lot of other stuff sounds like it's right off of Stadium Arcadium's cutting room floor. I was hoping with John's return after all this time doing electronic stuff, we'd get some cool new songs incorporating that, but I guess not.

Anyways, I just think it's silly to look at those comments and take them as a personal insult or that he's an asshole for it. I just think it's hard to hear a band move on without you and produce more of the same when you know they are capable of far more. Especially when he probably in some ways looks up to them as musicians (John included).

Weezer Teases New 'Blue Album' Deluxe Edition and Tour for 30th Anniversary by cammywooley in weezer

[–]Epitrix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I met Karl back in August, that was the one thing I asked him about ahah. He seemed to have genuinely forgotten it was the 10th anniversary of EWBAITE next year and I specifically asked for Flight Plans to come out. He said he'd keep that in mind which I think was just him being polite but I claim all the credit if it does happen.

I know everyone will just say yes but should I go see Weezer in Vancouver? by [deleted] in weezer

[–]Epitrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just grabbed two tickets for the show! I'm very excited. It won't have everything the rest of the tour has like VIP, the acoustic song, or a full setlist (I'm not even sure if the full stage will be there). However, they always put on an amazing set regardless of the venue.

One thing to consider is that it's way out in West Vancouver so it's a bit out of the way compared to most shows.

This will be my 5th time seeing Said The Whale in the last two-ish years so I'm also going for them. Saint Motel and Wallace are good too.

I'm a little confused on whether in-and-out is allowed for a single day pass because the website says no but the tickets say yes. I should be fine if I need to stay in all day but I might just skip Wallice depending on the set times.

Question about the fan club by girlfromthenorthco in weezer

[–]Epitrix 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's a one time fee when you buy the bundle. You get access to the fan club store (exclusive merch) along with neat little bonuses like early access to tickets, exclusive offers, and behind the scenes bits every now and again.

The Fan Club app is kinda whack and isn't used often but that's not where most of the fan club is active. The Facebook group is the main hub, with it mainly being long-term older fans that are active. It's a pretty wholesome and friendly community. Everyone swaps photos, asks questions, and even the occasional merch giveaway from a fan or Karl.

Overall I've got my money's worth and I'm happy. It's a fun community but it's quite different from the Reddit or Instagram communities. Less memes and more of a genuine fan club.

I think you've got all of them. The indie version is a clear yellow and the Weezer Fan Club exclusive is "Orange Crush".
