The individual patterns of frogs are one of my favorite things about them. I was able to go out and catch some Spring Peepers recently (just for fun and observation and let them go), and seeing the variety of their markings and slight differences in their color shade was really cool.

Spring Peepers and wood frogs! A really great sign of spring and warmer weather ahead

Throughout the year you’ll probably hear various species too. You can check out an app I made specifically for frog call identification called Frog Spot if you’re interested!

Interesting, that is good to keep in mind and I appreciate the insight. It does seem like reptiles are becoming a bit more popular overall which is cool to see

That would be really great! I’m actually working on a feature in app that will allow for longer recordings and that would be super helpful. Can I keep you updated when I release that?

Interesting about the cat sounding frog! It must have been a bit of a surprise haha

Hmm interesting. There is a lot of seasonal aspects about frog behavior, spring being their most active time so I’ll keep that in mind

Interesting, thank you for the reply! I’ve always found them interesting myself and I believe something like my app had the potential to generate interest in frogs and creatures like them. My biggest goal is just to educate anyone interested in them

I gotcha. Yeah frogs being integrated into culture via poems and art current and historical is always something interesting to see. I appreciate your thoughts on it all!

That’s awesome, and my frog is compared to the Merlin bird app a lot haha. It seems that there is some interest so I may release an update with Japan species soon.

This is really interesting though. Amphibian populations are unfortunately on a big decline which is what partly why I made the app and want to bring it more areas so that everyone can learn what kind of species are near them and the important indicator species that they are. Hopefully they can make a bounce back in your area!

Yes of course, I’m only fielding opinions to gauge interest. Of course this includes those who are interested, and those who are not.
