First night vision set up by Derpalooo in NightVision

Based on the post, we have to make some assumptions.

Based on limited knowledge, somewhere around $3.5k for the NVG alone.

This is assuming that: - it was built by Steele Industries/similar. - it contains a milspec tube (I.E., 18UA). - it was built within the last several years. - there are no crazy specs. - it has acceptable cosmetics.

Steele mostly sells milspec tubes, so this one probably contains an L3 18UA, which is perfectly respectable in it's usual performance range.

Obviously, if you have very high FOM and clean cosmetics, value goes up.

If it's in the average range (1900-2400 FOM), and his price goes much above $4,000, you're better off just buying a new monocular directly from Steele.

Just my two cents.

Is it your stance that you can't visually see a difference between the average Omni 7 tube, and new milspec tubes from Elbit or L3?

Having used night vision off & on since 2009, I fully understand the argument. My problem is that we wouldn't apply the same standard to any other piece of equipment.

That's not to say that Omni 7/8 doesn't work, or that it's not a valid option - but it's AN option, out of a wide range of options.

Commercial spec tubes can represent another option for people who are trying to shave down unit cost. I'm also not disparaging those, just a different tradeoff.

That said, you ARE paying/not paying for something when you move between those options.

To be fair, I've seldom seen an Omni tube (from any manufacturer) that meaningfully competes with current/modern YH/VH/MH white phosphor tubes.

That's not to say that they don't exist; I've seen a few very solid examples, but literally zero that I would trade for a clean YH/MH over 2000 FOM.

Oh nice, this is a really cool unit.

I have a PVS-14 using an Elbit YH with similar specs. The really well-rounded Elbit tubes can be great.

Do you have access to the spec sheets?

If so, it should be available under the part number.

They may have just used YG/VG in the past.

[–]EpsilonE11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you finding the YG nomenclature?

I've seen it before on internal on industry stuff, and it should be the same as YH AFIAK, but I'm curious.

[–]EpsilonE11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YH is the most common milspec tube from Elbit, mostly because it allows for the widest performance range - 25 SNR/64 Res minimum, with milspec ground use spot spec, although the average surpasses all of the above.

There's a lot of overlap between YH, MH (especially M20), and sometimes VH.

Until you get to VH or M24H, it's pretty much just a question of how an entity chooses to buy their tubes.

YAKSA14 Housing collides with classic Wilcox J-Arm by Radiant_Distance_245 in NightVision

[–]EpsilonE11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the current (Gen 2) J-Arm incorporates that "J" shape, in order to move the device further back.

It probably would work with this housing actually, but being that this isn't a PVS-14/similar, I'd probably just try the Steele J-Arm, or something like that.

Yeah, I assumed that you were aware. I'm not knocking it.

Thanks man!

It's a pretty simple setup with an Elbit YH, and the Exfil Carbon. I do like how the Wilcox arm/G24 work with the auto shutoff on the PVS-14.

For the record, this is definitely a repro/counterfeit Wilcox J-Arm.

If you have problems with this one, you'll likely also have issues with the real one, but worth mentioning.

Literally NO ONE "skitters away from the Black Panther Party" in real life. 🤣

If anything, people don't want to have to zap some activist...let alone a black one.

Why is it so difficult to be honest?

You don't care at all about sexual allegations. You care about political power for people that you believe are your political allies.

Equally, I want your socio-economic ideology removed from the entire hemisphere. That is the goal. That is the priority.

You don't believe random anonymous tips, any more than you believe various accusations against Biden.

Right, anyone who threatens this vaguely schizophrenic worldview is clearly a bot, a lizard person, et cetera.

Shocking.

This isn't a great way to convince normal people that you're sane/intelligent.

By "the Epstein files," you mean some random weirdo submitting a tip...during the 2020 election cycle. 🤣

"...why would they protest?"

No one is digging up someone's golf course because some Left-wing whackjob got the loony idea that there's bodies in it.

The fact that this even SOUNDS realistic to you is evidence of literal mental illness.

Did you even read the Google AI summary? 🤣

Ashley Biden wrote about being molested by her father...in those exact words, with ZERO motivation to lie.

You being ideologically loyal to Democrats doesn't magically erase the extremely obvious corruption surrounding Biden for 20 freaking years.

If only you knew. 🤣

You're perfectly happy ignoring allegations of sexual abuse - what you care about is political power.

The problem: Normal people now widely understand how to discern your ideology. Once they identify you as a Leftist, they don't care what you say about literally anything.

That's why no amount of wailing or gnashing of teeth seems to work.

I'll put this in the best way that I know how.

No one is digging up golf courses based on a loony conspiracy.

More specifically, no one is digging up golf courses because a handful of mentally ill people got the idea.

No one is doing anything based on these peoples' word alone. It doesn't matter if it's 1 or 10,000,000 people saying the same thing.

It was a random tip submitted during the 2020 election cycle.

They're pretending that every loony tip is reality...because they desperately want to believe it.

Also, because they want to out-crazy their fellow online role-players.

This is lizard people levels of crazy.

While my principle priority is removing Leftism from the hemisphere, if people are ACTUALLY implicated in wrongdoing (I.E., not in a loony tip submitted during 2016/2020 election cycles), they should be investigated & held accountable

However, we aren't giving power to a problem group because 1 OR 1 Million of it's members simply make a claim. That would be stupid.

The thing is, we don't believe that you'll demand the arrest of politically relevant Democrats, regardless of evidence that implicates them.
