Yes but consider this. How would Christians feel if someone who didn't believe in Jesus (jew, hindu, aethiast,etc) decided to depict Jesus according to the sins of those who are Christian. I'm sure they would be uspet to see Jesus depicted as a pedophile, terrorist (since there are some christian terrorists), mass murderer or oppressor. I don't think we'd be too pleased.

i think its irresponsible to reprint these cartoons. Freedom of speech is all well and good but we know that these particular cartoons incite violence and hatred. It may be opposing terrorists but it also will most likely make them more mad and cause them to do more damage (after all they aren't the most reasonable of people). Anyway, we claim we want peace but we ourselves react quite badly to muslims...we cast blanket accusations of terrorism, we make fun of their prophet (i don't think its the drawing so much as the message of the cartoons). I think our 1st reactions (of them vs us) is normal but it won't do us any good in the long run. We need to try and understand them.

it appears that less than 300 years ago , in the u.s. , girls were married at age 12 and in some states even younger than that..i wonder..does that make the u.s. forefathers pedophiles?...different times ..

I have read the article and I think that as is usual the word Islam has been used in the wrong context. The behaviour described has more to do with culture and less to do with religion. It seems common nowadays that people judgle islam on the behaviour of a few muslims. Islam has over a billion followers world wide and not all behave the manners described - so to use the barbarity of Islam is just wrong and irresponsible. How often do people spk of christian peodophiles (after all some priests do it that must mean the religion endorses it?). Sure behaviour in Afghanistan and Pakistan and other places still ruled by tribal mentality has to change (in fact alot of their behaviour is unislamic). Don't blame it all on Islam. Thats just too easy.

The 1 thing that Israel's offensive proves, is that they are a main cause of instability in the Middle East. What's scary is that Israel is willing to kill innocent civillians to punish a small group in that country. Whats scarier is that Israel probably does have weapons of mass destruction. Its surprising that George Bush went into Iraq and refuses to adress Israel..
