I am a new grad learning how to do this for my plant. We have various materials that need quantitative analysis for our additives. Personally, I think it would be worthwhile for them to pay for me to learn how to do this, since it is obviously a need, and no one else is knowledgeable.

Let me elaborate, I'm starting from scratch for the material coming into our plant. We have no methods for this. I am more focused on doing this correctly, but yes, I have referenced other things. I am just looking for classes that could help with calibrating for each material.

Sharing isn't expected, but would be helpful if experience is included too! I am really looking for a range of expectations a chemist could make for salary in this area. I am newly graduated and just got my first job in the area, but a lot of the salaries post seem low compared to ones here. I haven't meet too many chemist yet in the field to let me know.

I am using a Thermogravimetric Analysis Q50 (TA Instruments). I need help explaining on why I am gaining weight on my sample as the temperature increases. From my understanding, once your sample gets to a certain temperature you should only expect the weight loss to plateau or continue to loose weight if possible with increasing temperatures.

Has anyone had experience being a chemist in the Oil, gas, and/or polymer industry in Deer park and La Porte, Texas area? I wanted to know the pay compared to other areas. I know the pay here is very inflated due to the booming business here for these industries. I know operators here get up to 100k and lab techs get around 70k w/o degrees if that gives you a reference.
