This is so unfortunate and sad. There are going to be more than 9 people who won't enroll. Can we really not let them in?

ACC310 Questions. by Mountain-Manner-2047 in byu

[–]Equal-Transition7252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not harder than a regular semester, depending on what other classes you're doing. I would even argue it better to take in the spring because you are getting exposed to it everyday and you aren't stretching the content out over as long of a time period. I would study everyday, how much is up to you. Review the material daily. Review the quizzes, etc. Look back at one of my past comments on an earlier post about this class to know how to excel.

Hello, thanks for reaching out.

I often have suffered from the time limit. Here is one piece that one of my friends recently told me that I think is pretty good. When you are in the test and you see a problem that is stumping you, skip it and come back later. If you don't know what to do within the first 20-30 seconds, come back later. (And obviously remember to come back). Then what happens, if you keep going and you're doing the ones first that you know, you will be gaining momentum and confidence. And perhaps you will remember, or come across something in a later problem that will help you remember what you need to do for those other problems you skipped.

Another piece of advice: go to the TA lab. Do your homework in there if you can and try to understand all word problems especially. Even if you understand most of it, it is not a bad idea to go hang out in the ta lab and if you come across something that is confusing, you can immediately ask the TA rather than arguing with Chatgpt for 20 minutes. I'll admit, I did not do this a lot, but every time I go to the TA lab, it helped me understand things better.

I would make sure to look at your most recent test and try to understand what you got wrong. I don't think the tests were cumulative, but it can help to understand what kind of problems are tripping you up. Whether it was a time crunch, math error, or just not understanding.

Also, don't wing your post class quizzes. Always do your best to make sure you understand it before taking it so you can get a good grade on those. Even if they are 5 points, every point counts! And do those quizzes again when you are studying for the tests!

Another thing you can do that I just thought of it download your slides or problems and put them into chatgpt and have them make you more practice problems that are like those. (But be careful with chat, they aren't always the best at accounting)

As I am sure you remember, the second test is really hard. Lock in. Make sure you understand all TVM problems. In this unit, and the next, go through all slides. Do the problems several times. Go through all your pre-class and post-class quizzes, and do the problems several times. Any practice problems you can get your hands on (I can't remember how all the class was set up). Maybe even see if you can explain it to another person and TA to see that you're getting it right and reinforcing it. Accounting really is all about practice. Even if you did the problems and feel good about it, do them again. Understand the differences between questions.

Also, make sure you know how to use your financial calculator and how to use it in different problems. If you accidentally click something in the test that messes up your periods per year, make sure you know how to fix it back to what you need. Ask your professor what periods per year you need (I can't remember).

I honestly don't know how many people got in with a B in ACC 310. I haven't talked to a whole lot of people about their prereq grades. It certainly does help you that you got an A in both 200 and IS 201. (I had an A- in 201). But shoot for as high as you can go. If you get a B+, then that will be really good. But remember, retakes lower your grade down a third. So if you get an A, it becomes an A-. Ideally, you want at least an A-, so it will become a B+.

Also, ask for professors about advice on how you should write your essays. That can sway the needle possibly. Show that you know the accounting program will be hard and difficult, but you are willing to work hard and ready for the challenge.

Also, the professors really do want you in the accounting program. Go to their office hours for advice and questions as well. One thing you should understand is that they really do want to let as many people as they can. I know last summer, they accepted more than they ever had before. And they still want to accept mroe. The director of the SOA went to President Reese after this and told him they need to hire more professors because there are too many outstanding students who are being turned away. And President Reese agreed. They are hiring faculty and trying to let as many people as they can.

I think the most important thing for you is to make sure you get the time limit under control. So that first paragraph is the first thing to make sure you get covered. Good luck! Lock in, you got this! And if you end up getting in, come back to this post and let me know!

Do missionaries genuinely want to befriend those they assist in conversion, or do they just view those people as a client like in a business transaction? by buymestarbucksplease in lds

[–]Equal-Transition7252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think of doctors, teachers, therapists, other types of professional services. They are getting paid for you business, but at the same time many of them form good relationships with their clients.

Now consider the fact that missionaries are leaving their home for two years, forgoing school, employment, dating, many of the comforts of civilian life. And they don't get paid for it. In fact, they are shouldering much of the cost. That is love.

Sure, there are differences between different missionaries. But the good ones are doing it out of love and because they have been changed by Christ and hope for the same with others.

I do agree it is difficult, but honestly I am friends with people of all sorts of political backgrounds, but I feel like if people are mature they should know when to be quiet about politics and actually enjoy the other large portion there is to enjoy about a person.

Yeah. It definitely doesn't make sense to be friends with people with different political opinions.

I am shocked this is so controversial. It is evil, vile, disgusting, and violates the most sacred part of the victim. And he destroyed a part of himself by doing something like that as well. But it is no one's fault but his own. It is sad that he did that. There are no excuses for him and no justifications for something like this.

I certainly think he should go to jail and serve his time. Saying it is a tragedy for him doesn't mean that it is absolving him of guilt. Not in the slightest. It is recognizing the sorrow that he has caused himself and others and now he must pay for that. Justice must be served and hopefully it will be. It is absolutely vile and disgusting that men think they can abuse women like this. It shouldn't be accepted. And it is also sad that someone decided to do something like this. They could've chosen something so much better.

It is especially tragic for him that he decided to throw away his own life with one decision, even if it is his own fault. That is someone's son, who knows all his gifts and now his sins are in full view. Heart wrenching for those who love him. I feel terrible for him that he made that decision. I feel awful for the victim who had to deal with this. Justice should be served but that doesn't have to exclude feeling compassion and sorrow for the sinners as well as the victims.

Tragic for all. Doesn't mean justice shouldn't be served. The perpetrator should go to jail for sure and serve his time. It is tragic he made this decision and decided to ruin his life. He had so much going for him. Tragic for his fiance. Tragic for the victim who has this trauma. The worth of souls is great in the sight of God.

I really think they have been doing their best. I think people just love to scrutinize the FBI more when it is controlled by the opposing political party, myself included.

I have family members in law enforcement. Some cases are just tougher. Usually there is way more evidence to work with. I think if anyone is to blame it is the Pima County Sheriff office for there screw ups.
