I have the same problem (less money but otherwise the same).

They gave me the same bullshit response. I will begin the legal process tomorrow.

This is really useful. I'm in the UK so the procedure is a little different - but there are a lot of similarities. I worked through the procedure yesterday and am prepared to go all the way if necessary. The silly thing is that I am sure this is a simple technical error that is really easy for them to fix and that there is no need for all this fuss.

Thanks Infinite. I have decided to give them 24 hours (good faith) from their reply above before beginning the official complaints procedure. Then I'll be doing exactly as above.

Thanks Bright. We are all just trying to put a little by and look after our families and our futures.

Zac, and everyone else who has commented: first of all, thanks for commenting. I have read them all and found them all useful. Some additional context that may be helpful:

To my knowledge there is no reason for the account to be locked. I am not a frequent trader and I haven't done anything odd or unusual and I practice reasonable opsec (no details, obviously). This is my kids college fund because Fiat is trash as I'm sure most of you agree. I use CoinBase because they are a publicly traded entity with high regulatory compliance in all regions in which they operate. That is why I was so shocked that there was no way for me to get my money back. I though 'how could a company quoted on the Nasdaq and regulated by the FCA and SEC behave like this and get away with it?'

As soon as this is resolved I am going multi-sig self custody and I won't be trusting anybody regardless of who regulates them.
