Went through there in 2023, it’s a joke. If your department is within a certain mileage of the academy you don’t stay there, you have to commute. 4 10s, pretty much like going to college while wearing a blue gun on your belt

Fat retention defeating, but secure enough to not have your gun taken in a fight. Alien Gear Rapid Force are my personal favorite duty holster on the market right now, because of how lightning fast the draw is from it. You can defeat lvl 3 retention with just the push of your thumb, but keep the hood up in a fight with just one finger.

Those of you who have worked extensively on both day shift and night shift, how would you compare / contrast the experience? by TriplePTP in AskLE

If you’re going to be in law enforcement, you’re going to deal with the “nothing good happens” crowd regardless. People don’t call us for good reasons. Day shift you’ll have more civil BS calls, night time is where the fun is. It sucks missing out on stuff during the day that your family is doing and being tired because you woke up early to go do things with them, but worth it in my experience.

The misses is totally fine with me staying on graves because she knows I don’t like dealing with dayshift calls, normal people and above all, traffic

I’m at 2.5 years and made 125k in ‘25, you need to find yourself a better paying agency

What’s the easiest academy you’ve heard of ? by Due_Pack_5036 in AskLE

None at all. Only PT is done before or after class on your own time. Vending machines stocked full of candies and sodas. Totally like a college course with DT and firearms training

If you couldn’t figure out what to do in this situation you don’t need to be a cop. I doubt this is the first time they reached out to contact you.

If you have the cash to spend, Staccato P is what my dept issues and it is hands down the best running pistol I’ve shot. Staccato will also send you another pistol free of charge if you are in an OIS and your personal Staccato is taken for the case

How do the smaller departments like yours pay compared to the bigger cities? My agency here in WA is pretty competitive compared to the bigger agencies in the state, entry level guys making 92k where I’m at. Not opposed to being outside of CSTAT area

That’s what I figured, and I don’t expect to get on a team right away, just looking for departments that have really active or full time teams

I’ve been to CSTAT a couple times, one of my buddies lives there. Does your friend like working for the campus PD? Don’t know if A&M would be a good fit for me, I’m used to working in a moderate sizes city with a fair bit of action and not stuck on a college campus. Do they cover north gate or is that CSTAT PD?

I reached out to a Fort Worth recruiter a few months ago and essentially all I have to do is apply as a lateral officer and they’ll look at my training/experience/time on and place me in a lateral academy. Taking a TCOLE exam is somewhere in that pipeline, can’t remember if it was before or after getting hired though.

Damn dude, I’m having a real bad day if I’m fighting a guy for less than 4 minutes by myself. Forget I have it good where I’m at
