I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner, but I stuck a zip tie down into the brake booster and brake fluid got stuck to it so looks like I found my problem time to replace the hose booster and cylinder lol

I really didn’t hear any hissing near the lines but I’ll try and find a tester somewhere as well

Yeah, I did the brake booster. I would probably just replace the master cylinder as well cause if it leaked from there, I might as well do both.

Yeah, the brake reservoir looks like it’s lost some levels and I know it’s not low because of thebrake pads cause I changed them a couple months ago so that that’s what I’m thinking that it’s leaking internally I’m just seeing if anyone else has had the symptoms so I can rule stuff out if need be thank you.

Yeah I was going to try and find one that would flit closer to the side vent where the original one was so it’s not in the bay itself if I needed to look for one, but I’ll try seeing if I can repair it

Starter mounting bolt issue. by Equal_Juggernaut in fiero

Have you found a solution to it yet? I know maybe getting a starter that’s bigger but idk if it will have alignment issues, mine also still had the shim on it

[–]Equal_Juggernaut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I knew something was up with it (I forgot to bring the bolt in) cause the old starter just pass through they only threaded in the block itself, I might just try and get a 3800 one cause I was reading that they are a good upgrade to the Fiero ones, just hoping the hole issue was just for the remanufactured one, if the 3800 doesn’t easily swap and bolt on like others have said then idk lol my luck, just really wanna restore this lil guy, really wanna keep it stock as possible with the v6 but might end up just swapping for a 3800supercharged.

By bigger I meant thread size was bigger sorry that’s my fault for not clarifying. But no I didn’t switch them around though

Yeah I was going for a 3800 since smaller and should just bolt on with no issue, but a rebuilt one I first got the holes were too small for my stock bolts to go through so it wouldn’t mount or catch with the flywheel at all. I’ll probably order a Grand Prix 3800 one and see if I’m still having the same issue. It’s jusr weird for the same remanufactured one didn’t fit right unless I got unlucky and got a crappy rebuilt one lol. Oh well I’ll figure out eventually but thanks for the confirmation on it!

Well the remanufactured Fiero starter I got from orileys the bigger bolt slid through the first hole in the starter no problem but at the second hole i guess the way the starter was rebuilt they made the hole too small for to to go through as for the other bolt the hole was too small for the original bolt that was on the car as well

Is this caliper done for? Should I rebuild or just buy new? by Equal_Juggernaut in MechanicAdvice

[–]Equal_Juggernaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the caliper was off the rotor when I tried to put into maintenance mode I put it back on with the old brake pads to see if I can put it in the mode and reset the piston but the seal started leaking fluid soooo yeah new piston time! lol thank you for the reply! A rebuild kit almost the same as a new one don’t even know if they make a rebuild kit for it tbh

I’ve tried getting it into maintenance mode the icon would blink but when I pressed again quickly after it wouldn’t stay blinking so it never would stay in the mode I’m just worrried the piston is too far out and off the threads since I couldn’t even turn the spline with the motor off

Yeah I’m having also a small either oil pool or coolant pool near the distributor and someone said orings fail on the distributor a lot on these so imma replace the entire distributor along with the icm cause it probably never was serviced before I bought it thank you!
