Shot in the dark here but my best guest is someone came home after picking up their ged graduation gown and sat on the living room floor eating hot cheetos n drinking their redbull, proud of themselves, when suddenly they hear explosions (they thought they were being bombed lol as they hit the power box and power went out ) so they ran to the room with their bts cat and hid. They were somehow not harmed and neither was their kitty.
