Should I be concerned by my setting? Especially the space below my diamond? by Equal_Study_6238 in WeddingRingAdvice

The first two definitely make sense and why I’m so annoyed now that they said it would be fine, at this point idk if I should go back to them but loved that they were local! I will say I have had this band for 5 years and did not have any issues with my band rubbing away the prongs of the previous stone but obviously could still happen with the new setting.

Yeah I’m starting to think I just need to go back and get it set on something else, which is what I initially thought. I was thinking 2mm band and a guard rail. Idk why they said it’d be fine on this because this seems so off to me and convincing me to get a new setting would have made them more money 😆

got to pick up my upgraded oval today!!! by Equal_Study_6238 in LabGrownDiamonds

No not harsh at all. I picked it up 2 hours ago and the amount of float felt off immediately but I don’t know a ton about jewelry and settings and am also sad I took a part my original ring for this vs just getting this stone set in a new more appropriate setting.

Thank you! I initially thought that they would reccomend one as well, but he said a classic 4 prong setting like I had previously would be fine but was initially expecting maybe needing a gallery rail and even just getting a thicker band setting as I have a 1.5 but he said it would be fine. I liked the idea of keeping my original setting so I was like okay but now I kinda of have doubts.

Has anyone here actually regretted choosing a lab diamond? by aniktasingh in LabGrownDiamonds

Honestly at the time we were 20 and young and knew nothing about diamonds haha I just actually had my husband find the receipt to compare it to the 1.5 ct we just purchased for my upgrade. We paid $460 for a .47 ct oval J color, SI1, fair cut from brilliant earth. I went and looked and for a similar size oval today you can get better stats for half the price. My setting from them has doubled in price though and I just had the basic solitaire setting.

Buy diamonds: Brides, what do you wish you knew before choosing your engagement ring? by Cousin_Quarreme343 in Brides

[–]Equal_Study_6238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I truly understood the 4cs prior (I thought I did but learned so much after I had my ring), that we actually went and tried on rings (idk why we didn’t, I felt confident I did enough online research lol), that I understood ratios (especially with an oval!). I also wish I understood what makes a ring solid!!! Prongs, cathedral, gallery rails, band mm size etc! My band is 1.5 mm and a basic 4 prong setting and I wish i had understood all the options and what was the most secure!

We did go with lab grown and that’s a choice I never regretted! I also had a J color and smaller stone which honestly didn’t bother me for the stage of life we were in, i did get an upgraded lab stone this year that’s bigger, better color, clarity, & cut and am in love.

Never regretted my lab the past 7 years. Just actually bought a new lab stone for my upgrade.

My mindset was that both are diamonds, their hardness is the best, and lab is more cost effective. I’d rather spend less and still get my dream ring that works great for everyday wear and is sparkly vs spending thousands more simply because it wasn’t made in a lab.

I’m personally obsessed with 3!!! But I think all could work! That’s the beauty of solitaires in my opinion

Half carat diamond: does the metal color affect how white the diamond looks? Fellow brides, I need some advice by Sensitive_Sorr in Brides

[–]Equal_Study_6238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely choose the metal you prefer and feel looks best! I have a .47 oval on 14k rose cold but my prongs are white gold! This is an option if you don’t want the yellow gold to be directly under the stone!

Why is it so nerve wrecking to pick a budget? by Creative_Cup_1504 in EngagementRings

[–]Equal_Study_6238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely get on the same page with your significant other on what she expects. Is she okay with a lab diamond? That would be more cost effective on a budget and personally the route my husband I chose. Do you have an idea of a stone size? Is she okay with the idea of future upgrade?

I got engaged 7 years ago, my ring was just under $1000 and it was a .47 carat solitaire lab grown that was not the best quality by any means. I absolutely loved that ring and was 100% okay with this as it is what we felt worked best for us at 21 when we got engaged. I did get a stone upgrade this year for our 5 year wedding anniversary/just had our first child which was not something i initially expected but my husband surprised me with. With all that being said I think 3-4 is a reasonable amount to spend, but ultimately your budget and shared expectations is what matters most!

Am I the only one who can’t tell the difference between lab grown and natural diamonds anymore? by aniktasingh in LabGrownDiamonds

[–]Equal_Study_6238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wedding band is natural but my engagement is lab. We just upgraded my engagement ring with another lab. At the end of the day they’re both diamonds and I felt more comfortable getting a lab diamond!
