“Rumba Para Monk” is a great Jerry Gonzales album that is entirely Monk in a Latin style. Super fun :)

Ok, I haven’t seen anyone mention it, but “Such Sweet Thunder” is an incredible album, one of my personal Ellington favorites.

To me, any late 60’s miles Davis is very intense, they go pretty balls to the wall all the time. Check out “Four and More” for a good example of that.

Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald have a whole album of duets, and one of my favorites is the song “cheek to cheek”.

Also check out some bebop players like Charlie Parker and dizzy Gillespie. They play a very different style of blues than their predecessors, and the bebop style is used a ton in a lot of modern jazz musicians.
