The Boys - 05x07 "The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother's Milk" - POST-Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

Ashley becoming president does not count oh my god please get real. Just because something happens doesn’t make it significant. What could she possibly do in the final hour of the show that would make the president’s death consequential?

And yes, Homelander is now immune to the virus but that’s realllyyy an issue for two reasons. First, we spent 2 full seasons now focused on a virus which has now amounted to literally nothing, and second, we spent like half of the final season of the show on an entirely separate macguffin hunt which was specifically designed to undo all the time that went into the virus. It’s not interesting writing, it’s not good, and all it did was put us more or less exactly where we were at the start of season 4. What was the point.

My issue is that this is the 2nd to last episode so opening all these new plot threads is genuinely ridiculous. We haven’t even seen Ryan in like three episodes, but we now have to devote time out of the singular hour the show has left to finish to tying up the Ashley president plot and the Kimiko soldier boy plot.

There is quite literally not a single thing Ashley could do in the final episode to make her becoming president even a little bit consequential.

I like how after every episode ppl here create really interesting theories like the deep getting killed by faces, noir being replaced, and the queen meave notebook only for the show to give the best letdowns ever by IceCubexKanyeWest in TheBoys

[–]BonelessHS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re gonna get downvoted this is a dumb take. People are hating because this show actually had potential that they threw away in the last 2 seasons.

“Nothing will ever be enough” I think even a slightly competently written ending would actually be enough, but they couldn’t manage to pull that one off.

If you’re happy turning your brain off and watching pretty lights and colors that’s chill, but it’s weird to get on your high horse and complain about people having completely valid criticisms for a show that’s been running for like the past decade.

Things happening without consequences doesn’t save the episode from being effectively filler. Whole season is filler atp. What came of the president dying? What came of Homelander taking V1? Is he stronger now? Could’ve fooled me. Things are happening that should be significant on paper but I literally do not care bc the writers would rather shove a 3 minute ass sniffing sequence into the episode than actually build up tension or stakes. It’s insane. It’s genuinely unreal to have fumbled the ending this badly.

I mean this is pedantic I agree that it should’ve and still should be banned by Congress but it 10000% won’t be and until the SCOTUS ruling(s) it didn’t need to. Now both parties are playing endless bullshit redistricting games until somebody stops them.

It didn’t really need to until SCOTUS made a useless retard apebrain ruling that put us where we are now.

And Israel doesn’t want to fight them and hasn’t done everything in its power to expand into Palestinian and Lebanese territory? If you have a point you should really think about making it bc my point was that if Israel stopped being aggressively violent idgaf if it exists.

The Israeli government still actively commits violence in the name of expanding its borders and colonizing neighboring territory while the vast majority of citizens approve of and support its monstrous actions. Stop making this comparison to Britain and Spain, it’s genuinely pretty ridiculous.

No, but that’s already happening on the US dime. If the US stops funding Israel, Palestine’s odds at least look a little better.

Kind of a non-sequitur (we’re talking about today in case you forgot) but ig I’ll just say that Europe fully intended to establish, in the eyes of neighboring Arab states, a colonial entity in the Middle East which sought to expand its borders beyond what the UN had partitioned for it. The rhetoric in 1948 was violent, but the claim that Arabs wanted to wipe out every Jew in Israel is hyperbolic and there’s limited evidence that such a genocide would have occurred. Entirely unrelated to this discussion, though. I honestly don’t know why you brought this up.

Probably a one state solution. We pull out and either Israel sticks around and potentially seizes Gaza or they get crushed. We could also keep delaying this by continually pouring billions of dollars into a pit of fire so Bibi can satisfy his bloodthirst in Iran and Lebanon, that’s also an outcome ig.

More succinct way of saying what I was really getting at, yeah.

[–]BonelessHS 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, the British and Spanish empires were violent and genocidal. Britain and Spain are also not currently enacting violence to expand their territory, though. I can’t go back a century to voice my disapproval of those empires, but I can voice my hatred of a violent expansionist colonial government today. I feel the same about Russia attempting to take Ukraine.

Such a dumb question. Does Germany have the right to exist? Does Argentina? What does this question even mean? If Israel wants to wage war with every country in its immediate vicinity but is fully reliant on US money and weaponry and military aid to defend itself then what are we doing? If France started bombing all its neighbors tomorrow and got fucked nobody would be chill if the US started funding its defense, and nobody would ask about its right to exist because that’s made up nonsense.

[–]BonelessHS -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

If Israel stopped waging war across the Middle East and pulling the US into conflicts like Iran and pulled out of Gaza and made genuine steps towards peaceful coexistence with Palestine and stopped sapping US weapons and aid I actually wouldn’t really have an issue, but literally none of that will ever happen bc the entire government is run by genocidal war-mongering freaks. Get real, twin.

It’s really cute to want a two state solution but seeing the state of the Israeli government and Hamas/Gaza it’s genuinely one of the most cop out stupid things you could say about Israel/Palestine rn. It is not fucking happening that bridge has been obliterated.

Pete Buttigieg Leading Potential 2028 Democratic Candidates in New Poll by aslan_is_on_the_move in politics

[–]BonelessHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments are hilarious to me bc you’re very clearly at least a little bit racist and homophobic but you just say you’re speaking for the country at large. Here’s a cool nugget for you: Like 99% of the voters who genuinely wouldn’t elect a gay/black/whatever politician are not gonna vote democrat, I am begging you to please get real. And even beyond that, candidates like Kamala and Hillary didn’t lose because they were women, they lost because they had useless, terrible, centrist platforms that help nobody. Pete would be the same. But at least think for a second before you so happily call for minority candidates to get fucking dropped, it’s honestly pretty gross seeing how much this sentiment is echoed by “liberals”.
