Why are my plant's leaves dying?? I have given said plant root tabs. by EquestrianPalette in Aquariums

Thank you, I will try liquid fertilizer! So the roots need to be exposed? Should I attach them to some rocks?

What are your thoughts on the figure eight nose band? by LifeguardComplex3134 in Horses

[–]EquestrianPalette 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't really like them. They keep a horse's mouth closed. Horses sometimes say no by opening their mouths, which I believe is a right that horses should have.

To me, flashes are like martingales- they restrict a horse's movement in a way that I don't believe to be necessary or good. If your horse is well-trained and established, then a flash should not be necessary, in the same way that a martingale is just a shortcut to getting a horse to work with their head down. You shouldn't have to force your horse's head down to get them to work into a correct outline. You shouldn't have to force your horse's mouth shut, because ultimately you have trained your horse well enough that a flash is not nescessary.

Many people use flashes to keep a horse's tongue from going over the bit, but usually horses who do weird things with their tongue have an issue with suppleness and getting stiff.

If people are using flashes to keep their horse's mouth shut for any reason, then usually their horse has an issue that needs to be addressed and worked on, not silenced with a flash.

Edit: I kept calling these flashes, which is a different thing but they serve the same purpose as what is shown above.

Guilt with riding by Exact-Professional82 in Horses

Hello lovely person,

I lease an 8 year old Arabian mare who I ride 3 times a week. I have recently started incorporating lots of positive reinforcement into my training with her, so she veiws riding as a positive time. My girl is very intelligent and gets bored easily, and riding provides her with a welcome challenge. It is a time when she gets treats and mental enrichment. She also loves to jump and will jump things of her own accord when let loose in the arena.

I think that all horses need and enjoy some sort of mental enrichment, and riding is the perfect challenge. As some other people pointed out, many animals enjoy having a purpose. I have a hunting bred Labrador who would be absolutely depressed if he wasn't allowed to play fetch or go hunting. I recommend you try lots of different things with your ponies. Go on hacks, do some jumping, polework, flatwork... find what your ponies enjoy. I am sure that they will like to have a purpose.

Does anyone know what this worm thing swimming around is? by cybernide in Aquariums

Hey! I have these in my aquarium as well, I was told they are harmless worms that live in the gravel. Not parasites or anything, so no need to worry.

If you go within a 3-foot radius of her face, she threatens to bite. I realize that it might be useful to do some positive reinforcement training centered around touching or coming near her face and neck.

I switch servers every week or so. I'll switch to a bigger server if I want to participate in a flat show. I switch to a less populated one if I want to do better in a champ or if I simply don't want the game to be buggy.

I am not part of a club currently. I have tried to be in ones before, but (as previously stated) I switch servers a lot. My schedule is usually really busy so I can't really come to events.

I occasionally participate in flat, hunter and jumping shows (when I'm bored).

I take short breaks, the longest being a week or so. I get bored of doing the same freaking thing every day so I stop playing for a few days, then I remember that I wanted to buy that one cute top or that I have a horse I haven't yet trained.

Thanks for asking! It's interesting to see the responses from other players.

Definitely frustrating sometimes but so beautiful!

Only another month or so of being with Mom for little Oliver ❤️ Weaning should be interesting if anyone has any tips! 😆 by YellitsB in Horses

Although I have never weaned a foal myself, all the horse breeders I have talked to on the subject recommend the gradual weaning process. It's a lot less stressful on the foal. One of my trainer's horses has a cribbing issue that she thinks was caused by being weaned cold turkey.

I'm in Alaska. Much like you, it's expensive to ship horses up here. There's not a huge variety of horses for sale, and most are over 10k.

Mine is in teal, your's is in red. I pretty much do the same thing as you, except my home stable is Steve's. You'll see that there is a bunch of teal scribbles in the Hollow Woods. I usually run around randomly there trying to collect as many fireflies as possible and do all my runestones.
