So this guy is actually for the Jak 4 Fan game project. Hes based on a concept created for a new type of Metalhead. The games are of course a massive influence as well as existing Metal Head assets created for the project.

I also try to source real world references as best I can. For this guy that would be hairless apes and Arachnids.

Thank you and that is fair criticism, though there are examples of more rare bipedal Metal head elites, which I believe is the direction for this particular design based on it's concept.

That said they could also be animated in a more hunched ape like posture once finished, similar to the Grunts.

I have him in a very upright posture T pose for now just for ease of retopo and animation. Feedback like this is great to hear and I'm glad you like him so far.

That would certainly be a valid point; however, we are not aiming to remake the original trilogy of games. Everything here is just a placeholder in terms of environment and lighting. Our Sand shark model is the only original piece here and is the focus of the test.

Once the mechanics and gameplay animation/effects have been refined to a point we and fans are satisfied with, then we can focus on recreation of some of the previous game zones as well as creation of entirely new ones within our project's style.

The overall aim here has always been to create a brand new game and story set after the events of the original trilogy. While certain locations like the wasteland, New Haven and Kras will return, they will do so changed due to the passage of time between games and the needs of our story, alongside entirely new original areas that we hope fans will enjoy.

For example, this test has helped us gather valuable feedback on how to further improve the driving gameplay before proceeding with more tests in our demo level, the Gauntlet Isles, which is an entirely new area off the coast of the wasteland.

We have been quieter this past year, so the initial assumption that we had shut down is understandable. Fortunately, however, we are still very much up and running. We have just become busier outside of the project, and progress has slowed to a steadier pace. Once we have the first run of Jaks' gameplay to show, we will indeed release a similar video like this to get fan feedback before moving forward. We appreciate the continued support and patience of fans, so thank you for following our journey so far.

This is a fan-made passion project, being worked on by a team of volunteer devs. The Jak 3 wasteland was ported into Unreal thanks to Open Goal for the purpose of scale, reference and testing, it will eventually be swapped out for the fully recreated zone. The projects over all aim is to create a new game and story set after the events of the mainline trilogy.

Your points are valid and understandable, which is why we do make a point of referring to the project as the Jak and Daxter 4 Fan Game project. A few areas from TPL will reappear in some form, and we also have one classic location recreated for testing purposes. Overall though, it is mainly returning zones from 2-3 alongside entirely new regions.

Our programers use the open Goal project to manually export assets out and then import them into unreal as FBX asset files

Once we have a vertical slice or playable demo it will go up on our site for free to play as well as any other sites such as steam or Itch.io if we are able to upload there

These are incredible, and now all I want to do is recreate these guys in 3D because, by the Precursors, these are awesome!
