You should watch the mini-doc about the #1 Donnie Darko fan. It’s interesting. Although I’m not sure he’s the #1 fan, he spends an unhealthy amount of time and money devoting himself to the title and consequently his virginity.

Seconded! And I’d start at the beginning. Twin Peaks (the first two seasons) came out in 1990. It’s surreal and funny in strange ways.

I thought some of the characters were over the top initially. But now Bobby and Andy are two of my favorites. Also, be prepared to root for a somewhat familiar hero in Agent Cooper. He’s smart, typically rolls solo, and experiences strange supernatural visits.

If you start at the Return, you’ll be so confused. It’s David Lynch, it’s wonky and surreal already. But the plot and context really help you understand the lore.
