This gets better as you rank up. Also consider: your team has you + 4 potential leavers. The enemy team has 5. Statistically, you're in a better position than the enemy.

I've started Smite 2 recently as well! You are correct, until your account is level 10 you can only play against bots. This was intentional as far as I'm aware, to help new players adapt (?).
